Hacking Firmware 4.1 Released

Supposedly just fixes an issue with motion controls. Has anyone tried the reboot trick recently discovered? I am curious if it still behaves the same way.

Calm down. That's not how patching works, dev cycle and testing to a patch that isn't a minor fix is 3+ weeks till approval is granted.

Not everything is something to lose sleep over.

Some Switch owners on the subreddit also saying that it fixes a resolution problem that 4.0.0 introduced where older monitors and tvs were stuck at 480p, but with 4.1.0 higher resolutions are available again.

There's no force to update to use the online services, so I don't think that something "big" has been fixed.

What reboot trick??

EDIT: Probably to bypass the update. When you reboot the Switch the update is gone. If this is still the case I don't know as I don't have my Switch here atm.

I was referring to the vol+ vol- and power combination that triggers some kind of loading screen. Supposedly someone in discord discovered what it does... Installs predownloaded firmware updates. Beware

I hadn't updated to 4.1, was still on 4.0. Just tried it, and it opens up a menu that had 3 options: Update the system, Initialize data (without deleting saves) and Initialize System (deletes everything). I just updated from there. I didn't notice it doing anything funny with the battery though.

You have to hit reboot and then hold the vol-, vol+ and power/sleep button until the maintenance menu appears.
