Hacking Finding out what chip I have

Mmkay, I brought a pre-modded Pal Wii last summer but since I've only been buying original Wii games since then, I've had no need to find out what chip is in it (I didn't ask when I bought it because I'm pretty inexperienced with hacking - I've no way of contacting the seller now either). Now, I've absolutely no desire to wait ages for the PAL release of SSBB, but I'm pretty sure I'll need to update my chip in order to play it before then. Is there an easier way to find out which one I have than opening the Wii up? I'm 80% sure it's a Wiikey - what would happen if I tried a Wiikey update disk on a Wii with a different modchip inside?

before i read your post i was sure u have wiikey 2 XDDDDDDD
try not to update your wiikey, just use the 1.2 config(google it) and see if it works.
in worst case scenario just try to update,if its not wiikey while flashing it will tell you "error faild flashing", and you wont be able to update
