Well, so far, all Nintendo FF's I've played are really great..I never played anything above VI, so I don't know (I'm looking to play VII)..
But I really enjoyed first two!

Final Fantasy VI is the best, no doubt
- best story, best gameplay and best soundtrack EVERRRR!!!!!

FFVII is so overrated because it was the very first FF to many many guys out there (and it was the first ever released in europe too) so that's why this game is ranked so high

mmm, there is a part of truth, i have actually played both FF VI & VII, but the 7th is definitly my best, then comes FF VI just after, but i think they're both very good...

Favourite 2D would be FF6, favourite 3D would be FFX. Overall FFX is my favourite I thought it was amazing at the time and actually completed it 100% (only FF I have done this with).
The mixed reviews and opinions at the time of launch baffled me as the game really is a masterpiece.

Haven't finished I, II, III or V, so I won't rank them. I'm not completely sure about the exact positions of the 3 first places, but I know they're the games for sure.

Why stop at VII when they go all the way up to XII? Taking all the unnumbered ones into consideration you've barely covered half the range, your poll results are going to be horribly skewed.

Love that game to bits. I'd read the reviews, couldn't believe that a game could be so like a movie. (Plus if I don't say that the Moomba will eat me.)

I'm not really a Final Fantasy fan, but I really loved Final Fantasy 4 on the DS. Maybe I'll love another FF games more, when it gets ported to the DS.
