My Joycon drifts, not sure how to fix that. I don't live in the US so can't send it to Ninty. There is also a bigger problem, when playing MK8, for some reason randomly the kart acts as though I'm holding b so it reverses and I can't seem to stop it. This happens nearly every time I play. Has anyone experienced this?

    Does it matter ?
I have the save problem. My right joycon drifts downwards so it brakes in MK8, points the camera to the ground in many games, etc ...
Nintendo are offering free repair of joycons for anyone experiencing this

Will cost you cheaper to buy replacement joycon part and replace it yourself rather to wait for postal admission and repair....

same problem here, JoyCons tend to break easily

I hope they will fix this with the new gen of JoyCons, repairing here in Germany is expensive af it's nearly cheaper to buy new ones

You can "fix" the JoyCon drift by using electronics/contact cleaner in a spray can that has a nozzle for precision use. I use IPA. Just lift up the rubber skirt on the stick and spray it right in the opening, move the stick around a bunch and let it dry for a bit and the stick should be good as new.
I say "fix" because it's a design flaw, so the issue is always going to return until someone starts manufacturing sticks that do not have this flaw that you can replace your existing sticks with. But it's an easy short term fix that doesn't require opening up the JoyCon so doing it once every few months is not much of a problem.
Getting it repaired by Nintendo wouldn't last much longer. My cousin's had his Switch for 1.5 years and already experienced the drifting issue once, got it repaired, and then started experiencing it again, at which point I used some IPA electronics cleaner so he didn't have to send it in again. But he sent it in anyway because his left JoyCon rail piece had non working LEDs and buttons, and I couldn't do much to fix it, the connector and ribbon cable seemed just fine, but the contact was bad.
Does the right stick actually work as a brake? I never knew.

I was still in warranty. Also they extended my warranty by another 12 months once i received it back. They provided the free post label. Does take them about two weeks to get it back to you tho so i would suggest you pick up a cheap wired controller to tide you over till returned. Didn't cost me a penny tho. Might be worth checking anyway.

If point the right stick up to accelerate and down to brake, it works just like the A and B buttons

Well, that certainly explains why OP has that braking issue. I would have never thought of that. I was going to blame it on dirty contacts underneath the B button.

Seem perfectly working to me. I bought a new pair of joycon 2 weeks ago and the first day the right joycon one started to have some lag (or sticky) randomly, disconnecting etc. The drift bug don't happen yet on the left joycon, but I expect it to come one day or another. Usually I take care of my electronics but the previous pair of joycon ended exploded to the ground because of the lag and drifting. I don't know about the other controllers, but the joycons that come from nintendo are definetly bad. I'ts disapointing from nintendo.

Anybody knows if the free service for Joycons has already been extended to Europe?. I've tried to get a written response from Nintendo Spain, to no avail...

So Ninty uk saying if I bought from Nintendo, 24 months warranty. If from eBay, 12 months. If 2nd which is my case (from eBay) 0 warranty.

Also they want an email address before quoting any prices. Long winded crooks with their pricing and inferior hardware.

I simply filled in their online form ,was sent and e-mail with a pre-pay postal label and instructions on how to pack it. This is the second time i have done this as about 3 month(ish) ago it was the left joycon that i had to send ( was still in warranty then). That was sent, repaired/replaced and returned with a letter giving me a further 12 months warranty on my switch. fast forward 3 months to just a a couple of weeks ago and my right hand joycon started drifting. I went through the same procedure as before and sent of my right hand joycon with the pre-paid postage. Once again it was returned after repair/replacement with another 12 month warranty renewal. At no point did i phone them or them me. All i had to provide was proof of purchase ( you MUST have this or no dice ) and the serial number of my console . Bear in mind that my console was still within its warranty period. However it did take them a while to return my joycons both times im quite please to get another 12 months warranty added on. If your console is still im warranty i should be a a simple thing to get the joycons fixed/replace. Just to point out i did not have to send my console in just my joycons.

Go to https://www.nintendoservicecentre.co.uk/. Slect Switch. Other problem then book repair. Thats all i did every time i needed it.

So is there a method to fixing it myself? There seems to be a few different methods online. Is there 1 method proven more than others?

I've tried both compressed air and contact cleaner. Both are temporary solutions, as the problem is related to the material the joystick is made of.

Did you open it up and try? What about replacing the joystick? Are they cheap?
