So I formatted my sd card from exfat to fat32 and did a copy and paste of all the files I had. I'm thrown off because by me converting the sd card it now reads that I have 50 more GBs of room but before it was completely filled.

I also tried copying super smash bros nsp but was told the file was to big to fit on the system. I tried using DivideNSP but it didnt do anything with the Smash Nsp when it was done because I also tired to copy it over and was told the same thing with the file being to big.

The extra room is probably because there was corruption before. A lot of people using exfat don't notice that they've lost space due to corrupted files.

Try splitNSP I've had good results with it. Make sure you follow the instructions about setting the archive bit on the folder and then copying the whole thing (not just the files) to SD.

None of the games I have installed thats 4GB or higher work. Is it because of me using Fat32 now? Do I have to uninstall the large games and install them again using a splitter? The smaller games I have work and load up fine.

Weird because when I switched from ExFat to Fat32 I copied all my files to PC formatted to Fat32 and copied them back and everything worked fine, because once games are installed they are split up into different files under 4 gb (I looked) But you can't just copy a nsp that's over 4 gb to the sd card to install it because of the 4 gb limit. You will need to either split the nsp or do usb install or network install.

I do usb install so I don't have to split the files and I don't even have to remove my sd card to put the files on it I can just leave it in my switch and install the game from my computer straight to the switch using tinfoil.

If the files were corrupt on exFat they wil most likely still be corrupt on Fat32. Fat32 can't just magically fix corruption it only prevents corruption going forward. You need fresh installs of the games. Probably need to redownload them unless you have the nsps on your computer.

Yea I just figured that. Some games work fine that im seeing and others just arent working. I deleted the corrupted games will reinstall them shortly

So I tried to run every switch game I have on my system and a few games came up as corrupted. I deleted them and going to try to figure out how to split the files and reinstall them.

I use both splitNSP and XCI-Cutter for splitting and they work without a glitch. It's a straight forward process.
Do I copy the entire archive? Or am I extracting the file first then copying? I already have XCI and NSP files saved on a external hard drive

Again can save time and effort by installing through usb. But each to his own.
I tried through tinfoil but I couldn't get it running

you need to point the relevant tool to the .xci or .nsp file that's > 4GB and it will do the necessary. After the files are split into 4GB chunks you can move them over to SD card.

You should check the RELEASE pages for these tools here on gbatemp for instructions

Search for "legal-nsp-splitter-for-fat32" and "XCI-Cutter (Windows)"

^ sorry don't have enough level to post links ;)

So ive used Tinfoil install through usb and I either reinstalled the games I deleted or I updated a few games but now im not able to play them. I keep getting a message saying A system update is required in order to use this software. Im on 5.1 and were able to play these games before

if you installed some newer updates, they might require higher firmware to play now. or maybe you installed them with the ignore fw command before? some games that want firmware 6.0 actually run fine on 5.1, as long as you install it with the ignore fw option.

What do you mean game files will corrupt on exfat ? Explain ?
there's a million topics about it you can google.
basically, nintendo implemented exfat in a weird way and while it works for their own system, homebrew has a tiny chance to corrupt files during any read and write process and a large chance to corrupt on system crashes and untimely exits (i.e. pressing the home button when running homebrew).
fat32 is a more robust filesystem with a much much smaller chance to corrupt. but it comes with a 4gb file size limit
