Hello,
I purchased a Famicom AV, and zapper guns don't work correctly:
I originally was using an American Zapper, with a genuine Everdrive N8 (not Pro). I applied the wiring mod here: htps://famicomworld.com/workshop/tech/nes-zapper-on-av-famicom/
It works great initially, then after a few minutes, the gun starts to not register any inputs - the screen flashes, but nothing hits. Then after about 20 more seconds, it stops registering at all (squeezing trigger does nothing). After the issue occurs, I have to let the console sit for a while before it will work again at all; maybe 10-20 minutes.
I thought maybe my wiring was bad, so I bought this adapter - https://misteraddons.com/collection...ts/nes-controllers-to-famicom-console-adapter - same behavior; works for a minute, then everything misses, then stops working entirely.
I took out the mod to make sure it wasn't conflicting somehow - same thing.
I tested the same Zapper on an NES, and it worked correctly. I purchased an original Duck Hunt cart from Japan - same issue. Then purchased a Japanese Beam Gun (Zapper), to make sure it wasn't a compatibility issue with the gun - same issues.
So, it's 100% an issue with the console. After talking with a knowledgeable friend, he thinks it's likely a board/capacitor issue (heating/cooling after use).
This is where my knowledge ends. Is anyone able to point me in the right direction for a fix? My soldering skills aren't good, and I'm not very confident enough to endeavor that. Looking at the board, I don't notice any leaks, buldging, wear, etc.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance!
