Hello,

assuming I'm using a 5.05 ps4 (with Hen) with a new account that's never been on PSN.

is it possible to install and use fake pkg of ps4 apps (youtube,dailymotion,PLEX,etc...) ?

is there something restricting that or just a matter of finding them?
(I did find a fake pkg for the standard media player although I haven't tried it yet)

thanks

i have tried to search for a media player , and it doesnt exist if you are aware of one i would like to know !!

Without having been on PSN prior to taking your console offline for 5.05:

THERE IS NO WAY CURRENTLY to use those apps.

People are actively working on a solution, but none has been found as of today.

The issue is activation, a PSN activated console has different info stored than a virgin console thats never been online (like mine)

The PKGS floating around for media players for unactivated consoles are bogus. Dont bother.

Okay, thanks for the update :)

Sooooooon.

Keep eyes open for developments.

Sooooooon.

kiiwii you might have more insight to the scene than I have... Do you know if someone is actually developing some hombrew for the ps4 like n64, ds emulator ? IMO its kinda dead sadly and if i knew some coding i would definitely help...

Regarding emulation: I don’t know sadly, however retroarch would be a safe bet on appearing in future... hopefully.

The SDK is updated to 5.05, unity exists, the tools are there, IMHO we lack detailed tutorials for the dev side of things.

We can barely even modify payloads yet without LLVM/installations and more.

We need simplicity.

I thought LibHB or Orbislink would partially solve this, but idk.

Edit: thinking about it > Linux loader > emus = n64/GC etc on PS4 anyway.

Native would be cooler, but perhaps a booter for direct to emulation would be ace!

A working version of the PS4 Media player has been distributed at a few sources. No other apps that I've seen but this is a really good start.

i will be glad to have it aldo i dont know if ps4 slim can play x265 movies

Hehe year got it this morning. Works great for MP4, not much else unless really specifically encoded mkv etc.

As I understand it MP4 and MLV are just containers for audio and video streams, yet MP4 works better than MKV, even without checking for AAC before trying etc.

Maybe I’m just lucky ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Was the success of the Media Player based on overcoming the PSN activation? In other words, can a similar method be applied to the other PS4 apps that require PSN activation?

seems the app when installed through the PSN is flagged with escalated privaledge to the system. Escalating the access for the app enables it to propperly play video and audio where before it would only view pictures and fail with all other media.
