Today I decided to play Pokémon Platinum again after these years and as I was looking at the back of the case I found an error in text.
After comparing to my other Pokémon games found that the Platinum cover is darker than other ones, took out the cover of the case and it was a lot thicker, more like cardboard.
Looking at the cartridge the serial numbers are a bit off, other than that everything else looks good. At this point I was sure that the game was fake.
So I decided to check what is inside the cartridge surprisingly it has MX chip and Nintendo logo with the ® a bit bigger than it should be or it is just me...
So is it fake or real? I start to think box is fake and the cartridge is real.

Can you dump the ROM and post a checksum? That would tell you if it matches a known dump.

If you brought it used it could be that the orginal box broke and they replaced the box with a medicore repo

I think it was sealed when I bought it. Was long time ago and I really didn't cared, I got it from ebay...

looks real; although sometimes DS games can be fake you really need to watch out for GBA games. I've bought two fake Pokemon Rubys on accident and
I can't return them

I have every main GBA Pokémon game, they all have mx boards, the Nintendo logo in front of the cartridge and that clarifies that they are legit. But DS games are really hard to know by the cartridge board itself because you cant really find many information about it on internet.

It looks real since the nintendo logo on the back of the cart. I checking the pins currently.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

EDIT: Cart is real. Idk about the box.

that doesn't really matter much... look at the carts, you will see the pokemon white is black, while platinum is grey
i had the sims expansions i bought in the same big retail chain. each with a different EA games logo and each box was different
like we told you a bunch of times, the cart is real. nuff said
the box can be a bad print or a replaced case.. maybe you got a refurbished game...
but the cart is defenitly real...

i own all the pokemon games (however they are in storage), i remember some of them had different sealing. (i bought them some years appart)
keep in mind, the covers get printed at different places...

since you own pokemon white and you want to check by yourself if the cart is real you can do theese checks:
use transporter (transfer pokemons from the 4th gen to 5th gen) (it will very likely fail to detect or save if you have a fake cart)
if you have homebrew on your 3ds, dump the game and save files, compare the ROM hash with the ones available online
if you don't have a 3ds and only got a DS and a flashcart, you can also dump the save, however if you want to dump the rom you may need a SLOT 2 flashcart as well like the ez iv (i think you can dump over wifi but takes hours, it requires an open\wep wifi)
if you dump the save, it should detect it as FLASH

the fact the cart has a nice MX chip, and there is no black cicle (glue) it has is the right nintendo logo on the back in "gold" there is thoose 4 squares used for test i believe.. (never seen fakes with thoose 4 big quality gold squares)
it even has the "badly cut" pcb. it tells it's the real deal
and one big hint about being real if you don't want to open the cart: it has a CE logo...
all the fake cartridges i seen so far got a USA sticker (however there may exist fake cartridges with european stickers, but i never seen one)
