Quick question do all the versions of the kernel from the dstt site contain the fake detector?? Just curious as I have a new dstt and I have put v1.17 on it.. I don't seem to have any problems...
Yes. 1.17 definitely does. Sometimes you won't see problems right away, but you might see them in a week or two. Or you may have a real DSTT (in which case you won't see problems at all). Have you tested your flash cart to see if it's real or fake? Whether it's real or fake, I'd recommend replacing the official TTMENU.DAT with the fake-killer disabled one.

Well I ran the fake detector and from what I can determine it is real...If I remember correctly it said "good"...Think I will just leave it for now as I all ready killed my sons r4 by messing up a spring removal
... Oh well it was a good excuse to get the Dstt and a 4g msd...
