That might be the reason.You need 11.2 to play sun and moon.If you have a9lh you should be able to freely update your sysnand.

My N3DS is on 11.0 (no CFW or anything) and can play Moon just fine.

I can't quite tell what's going on here then.You where able to install FBI through a CIA file correct or are you using the injected one in the h&s app? You shouldn't have any problems installing CIA files unless you corrupted your NAND somehow during the installation process which is very unlikely.Hopefully you have a NAND backup which can help you if you are still having issues.

fixed the problem by replacing my SD card, my old one was corrupted and I think fake so when I tried on another SD card it worked perfectly and installed CIAs, thanks to everyone that replied! <3
