hello there,

my switch does not boot (permanent black screen / no rcm) if the emmc is in place.
once i got lucky and did manage to get into RMC + hekate and immediatly dumped the whole thing to sd.
upon verification the connection to emmc was lost and verification failed.
i allready ordered 2 replacement emmc of ebay in order to restore my previously backup.
however the switch refuses to boot/enter rcm if ANY emmc is in place.
if the emmc is removed, the switch enters RCM and i am able to push payloads.
i did not try to hotplug any emmc at any time.
i have no SD card inserted and use my trusted jig (working on 2nd switch).

now i am out of ideas, pretty pretty please, HELP!

ps: is it possible to use the dumped nand and create a emummc of it?
(yes i have a old nand dump when i did RCM for the first time ever, not just the not-verified one)

So it's not even working with the replacement eMMC modules? Then it's probably hardware failure. You should contact one of the repair guys here and see if they can fix it.

just of curiosity, there has been a squishi metal'ish cushion between emmc and shielding@motherboard.
should that be coductive?
after removing the emmc, i cleaned the area and used some isolation tape to make sure that there is no contact.

Can you please take a picture of the area under the heatpipe next to emmc? Just remove heatpipe and photograph as much as you can please.

update:

i managed to get a full verified dump of the original emmc board. (BOOT0/BOOT1/RAWNAND)
the original emmc is not recognized reliably, so i cannot tell IF the contents of the nand are ok to use.
so i replaced the emmc with a refurbished one.
when i tried to restore the dumped nand to the new emmc, i had to change to contents of the backup folder from:
sd:/backup/serial_of_original_emmc/...
to
sd:/backup/serial_of_replacement_emmc/...
i was able to restore the files to the new emmc.

however i cannot boot the switch up. payload runs fine / addidtional files from sd are loaded and the Sept gfx appears, after the Atmosphere Logo the switch goes black.

i was expecting sort of this happenend when i restored the emmcX dump to emmcY.

are the console parts married to each other by serial or keyvault or something (like x360/ps3)?
how do i get around this? or is it possible to create a clean filesystem from scratch?

I think what I'd do (because the IDs of the emmc are different)

I'd do a full reset.

Not just any old reset.

You need to go into system/save and delete all apart from the one that ends in 120. Empty savemeta folder too

Do it in hacdiskmount

hey @mattytrog

i did mount the system partition and tried to delete all files within /system/ except the one that ends in ......120.
however ive got multiple corrupted files/folders inside, which i cannot get rid of.
any advice?

thanks for caring, keep up the good work!

update: after flashing the modified (delete all files excpect ...120 + broken filename ones) image, im still getting blackscreen after atmosphere logo

update,

so i did reball the BGA on my original emmc and now i can reliably boot my switch (payload) + the emmc gets recognized all the time.
when i access the filesystem through TegraRMC memloader and HacDiskMount i have similar broken filenames (see last post).
i guess my filesystem is corrupted.

unfortunatly i only have 1 original rawnand from the time i just purchased that switch.
if i remember correctly i updated the switch + burning efuses 1 time. (after that i used choidosomething tool)
so the rawnand is not the "most recent" one, but from the day i purchased it.

situation: broken filesystem on emmc / no recent dump

how should i proceed from here?

Restore old dump. Make sure it includes boot0/1. If not, let me know.

Boot it with atmosphere or Hekate.

Once it boots, choiNX up to 8.1.0

hey @mattytrog,

i wrongly assumed that atmosphere/kosmos were more or less the same.
after following this guide, i was able to boot into, on my replacement emmc restored, stock 4.1.0 nand.
that was not possible using kosmos.
using atmosphere fss0 sys and choidujournx, the 8.1.0 upgrade was installed.
just out of curiosity i did clean (latest) kosmos install to a fresh formatted sd.

cfw (sysnand) is just getting me a black screen.

im sticking with atmosphere now :)

thanks for your advices/suggestions and mostly for caring at all.
keep up the good work!
