Toke jopic aside, I don't understand all the hate for Facebook. I used to think social networking sites were pretty dumb, but after making one myself just because people kept telling me to, I find it to be pretty convenient for staying in touch with friends whom I don't see everyday or very often.

I agree. IMO those who hate it either don't want to keep/have (enough) friends or have stupid friends that use it in ways that makes using the site less appealing (perhaps you need new friends if it bothers you that much).

I use it to keep in touch with friends and/or mass spread relevant information and that's all. If there's nothing of interest I simply log off.

there's people who live too far from me making it hard to stay in touch .
i still use MSN Messenger [yes i still call it that] but some people moved onto Facebook Chat .
if Facebook closed down , i only see two options :
- move to another Social Networking Site
- use Messenger again

the new msn messenger can sync with facebook and you can talk to people using facebook chat with it, or u could try meebo

Screw this shutting down crap.

All I ever use it for is to keep in touch with friends and some homework material. If it's going to shut down, I may as well make my own free, personal website for communication use. Facebook was the only way for me to keep track of my past and present friends and now that will not be possible anymore after March.

Facebook was one of the 'Most terrible things to exist'

First, there is e-mail, texting, and other means of communication. Facebook is just a way for people to feel good about themselves.(because they have no life of their own)

I would say it is good that Facebook is shutting down. People need to learn how to communicate with people face to face. It is the only way to live life as it is.

i really hated it when friends started using facebook to leave me messages instead of writing to my actual email or calling me. now i won't go to dinner with them or to a party if i don't get invited over the phone or on my personal email.

it's not any easier to write to someone on facebook as it is a regular email and that's what really pisses me off. the stupidest thing about it is that i would get an email from facebook telling me i had an email in facebook. WTF?
