EZ-Flash Jr stopped working - stuck at OSINIT (did not do any upgrades)

I have a modded Gameboy Color (IPS screen). It was working fine with EZ-Flash Jr. But then just now I was getting low power issues (flickering screen) and I think I must have reset it while it was still in the initial loading screen, booting the OS. When I recharged the batteries and tried playing again with the EZ-Flash Jr cartridge, it was not working anymore. I can't get past the OSINIT message. I tried quick and slow formatting the same SD card I was already using (8 GB, class 4, FAT32, 32 kb cluster size) and placed ezgb.dat in it. It didn't work. I tried the same with another, faster, SD card (8 GB, class 10, FAT32, 32 kb cluster size). It was still not working. The same happened. Can't get past OSINIT message.

Is there a way to fix it?
