I'm gonna grab the EZ Flash IV (Blue label version) then. Thanks guys, for bringing me to realization.
Collectors will pay you a good chunk of change for an EZ-Flash III. I traded mine straight across to another Temper here for an EZ-Flash IV, because I just wanted an easier flash cart to load roms on.

I honestly just really wanted something to load RTC games (pokemon) on and the rest of my collection as well. Which can all fit on a 2gb sd card. I just didn't want to spend $100 or more on this. I wanted to do it on my real gba as well and not emulate bc I don't like to emulate games on other devices.

Well, if you decide to part with it, I would happily have trade fodder to offer.

ez flash iii. no writer tool with it.. anyway to write roms to it or no? should i give up on this thing?

I am assuming by no "writer tool" you mean you are missing the linker (that box next to the cart) and not the software required to write to it.
ez3_02.gif

If that is the case, I'd follow Fast6191's advice and see if you can't find a buyer who has a linker already. I think finding a solution to replacing the linker w/ other kit or finding a linker for sale is going to be one tough row to hoe. Hell, I'm shocked you managed to pick up an EZ3 at all... It's a great GBA flash cart (one of the best ever made), most people wouldn't part w/ one (does it work, BTW?).

If it's the software you are missing, it can still be downloaded from the EZFlash site [CLICKY]. The easiest and most stable way, IMO, to get EZ3 Manager working on a modern machine is w/ a VM running Windows XP; I use Oracle's VM Virtual Box. Works fine.

The Supercard SD is not a fun cart to work w/, IMO. I haven't played w/ one in MANY years, but this thread discusses the joys of saving on the Supercard GBA products and it's exactly why I didn't like the cart much. Someone correct me if things changed.

Also what's the difference between the EXSEK Ez Flash IV and the other blue sticker label EZ Flash IV??

I had never heard of that before now, but as far as I can tell it is just a reseller putting his own label/branding on the box and cart and charging you a high mark up for it. On Amazon that "version" is in fact sold by a seller named EXSEK and in the Q&A he tells a buyer they must use EZClient to patch their games.

Just find a "blue label" EZ4. You can get one for ~$30 and it's the best, easily obtainable (i.e. still manufactured and supported) GBA flash cart right now that isn't KRIKzz's Everdrive-GBA X5... But the GBA Everdrive is $100 and AFAIK only has an RTC as advantage over the EZ4.

Edit:

The EZ4 does not have an RTC. :-( It also sound like Everdrive's are out of your price range. Either keep hunting for and old GBA flash cart w/ RTC or the linker for the EZ3; patch the RTC functionality of your Pokemon ROM's (for the ones that have patches that is) or buy an Everdrive. :-/

Last edited by KidIce, , Reason: Oops... Took way to long to actually post this (stupid distractions: cat, TV and finding links, etc).

Basically someone was willing to sell me an EZ Flash III but only the cartridge as they somehow lost the other pieces. I was going to do it but I didn't realize what the big deal was until I started looking up things about the cart and realized how useless it would be without the linker. I opted out and said no, now that I know. I'm just going to pick up an EZ Flash IV, and for the only game I care about RTC, I'll just find a legit cartridge.

Honestly, I think that is your best course of action given what you seem to want to do w/ a GBA flash cartridge. The EZ4 is basically just like the EZ3 only missing the RTC and RTS (real time save) feature... And of course EZ3's NAND has been replaced by the SD on the EZ4.

I have an EZ2, EZ3 and EZ4. I use the EZ4 for just about everything GBA. I mostly only use the EZ3 for things I want to use the RTS feature on. The EZ2 I mostly use when I need 1:1 cart functionality, meaning if you burn only a single game to it w/o the EZ2 menu it functions just like a real cart and even works w/ Gameshark's/Action Replay's/Code Breaker's/Exploader's/etc and DS games that have Slot-2 functionality think that it's a legit GBA cart.

I think you'll be pretty happy w/ the route you've chosen.

I can't get anything to flash the EZ flash III cart except using its own orange linker and EZ manager v2.22,
it works on my laptop with 32bit Window Vista ultimate.
F2A USB linker has partial access that it can read some games already on it by using Mootan's FlashManager but can't write to it.
Ben's JoeyJoebags can only flash a 128M Bennvenn [or clone pokemon] GBA cart.
no other gba flashcarts supported and GBxCart RW from insidegadgets currently can only flash a 32K Gameboy Flash Cart.
Best GBA flashcart with RTC right now in my opinion is EDGBA X5.
