I've heard that using Usb loader GX with flash drives such as Usb sticks is kind of wonky and some actions could render the drive unusable.

Does this apply to modern external SSD which are mostly flash drives?

SSD works without problems.
Also any good brand USB flash drive should work without problem, for a very long time (5 years+).

The difference in terms of speed between SSD and flash is very very minimal, because Wii uses the old USB 2.0 standard.

Thanks, for specifying about speed, but I was mostly talking about safety and we'll working

One bit of information from a preservation standpoint.... NVME SSDs or SSDs are that they sort of operate like rechargeable batteries. If you have one of those drives make sure to turn it on and use it every 6 months or so. This is not a problem with a regular hard drive although they can also go bad just in a different way and usually you can take an old spinning hard drive leave it on a shelf for a couple of years and it will be fine. I say usually because they do go bad it's just random. (always back up your data!!!) with the SSD thing it's a 100% sure thing if you don't give them some juice from time to time your data will be gone. The drive will be fine just your data may be gone or corrupt. This is also true with SD card MicroSD and the like, flash memory. So periodically plug them in and charge them up :)

Oh I see so they are actually different in term's of powering than Usb Pen Drives right?

In my experience hdd/ssd compatibility primarily depends upon the enclosure/connector, not the internal drive itself. I've used a sata to usb connector (and even an IDE to usb connector iirc) and had it work consistently regardless of the drives I connected

I have an SSD with the enclosure it comes with, it's sold as an external drive, it doesn't have self powering

will a usb type A male splitter with 1tb SSD work as well for usb loader gx and nintendont if so where can I find one
