So guess what, if they were to do data erasure according to GDPR, all they have to do is delete all info about the USER. The console data will stay. I mean, without the user info in the system, they no longer have a way to identify who used the console, all is in accordance with GDPR this way, while your cert stays banned.
They can delete the data. But then how they prove that user do something illegal? Should we trust words of every multi-billion corporation blindly?
Thats the question.

I seriously think you guys should stop provoking Nintendo further. You know that pirating games is an illegal act and Nintendo can sue your ass off. Right now they simply ban your console, you guys should be glad that no further legal action is taking against you.

They haven't so far. And they wont either. You know why? Because targeting individual users is not only a HUGE waste of resources but it's also small fry and wont stop piracy whatsoever. If Nintendo DOES star attacking, it will be major sites where pirated games are shared

Does no one in this thread understand that it's Nintendo service they are banning you from. No matter if they have your information or not your console will still be banned. They don't need a reason to ban you, you can't fight this.

Everyone in this thread is being ridiculous.

Technically speaking, them banning you from receiving updates means you would be blocked from playing certain games (ik wolf 2 requires a download to play), which is completely illegal at least in the EU.

It is not a huge waste of resource when they can bring the ultimate fear to the pirates. I guess you never heard news that there are game developers having law firmers hunting pirates torrenting game copies.

Targeting individual people isn't going to scare anyone nor is it going to stop piracy. So yes, it's a waste of resources and quite frankly it's thinking small. And no i haven't heard anything of the sort. Got a source for that news?

It’s stated on the box that a download and microSD is required to use this title on every game that requires additional data to play. This covers their ass from it being illegal in the EU.

I'm about 80% sure some games require an internet download.
They do, the also state that you need to be able to connect to their server to download the rest right on the box. If you can't do that and still bought the game then it's your own fault and not any type of "not providing a product".

I can't buy an ikea furniture then get mad because I don't have arms to assemble it.

Or rather say I bought a movie pass where I can goto the movies once per week then I give it out to all my friends I can't be mad if they revoke my movie watching

You're missing the point, blocking a users access to games they purchased is illegal no matter what. It's not IKEAs fault that you don't have arms, but it is Nintendo's fault that you're banned.

You’re the one missing the point. For starters it is always your fault if you get banned. It’s like you intentionally break your device and blame Nintendo that you can’t play your purchased games anymore. Modifying your console is techically the same as breaking your console. So if you want to play your purchased games, you have to buy a new console.

If you do something outside the scope of normal operation they have no obligation to support your Frankenware. Booting into a non user accessible area used strictly for diagnoses at the factory then overwriting parts of code and still expecting them to support your device is absolutely insane.

A person stole some items in a grocery shop, he got caught and when they looked in his bag they found all the stolen items. This person went to the authorities and complaint that the shop violated his privacy because they looked inside his bag.

:rofl2:
