Some gamers act like you can't enjoy more than one system at a time and once the system is no longer current it goes in the bin, this is largely the case with the big 2 but jeez my kids still use our Wii all the time.
But that is how the market works, once it chooses the hot thing, everything else is dead. Gamers, casuals, hackers, all they do this. See how the 3DS, despite Nintendo's efforts, is way wider open than the neglected Wii U.

It seems like you're annoyed that lots of us still love our WiiU's and aren't of the same opinion as yourself.
....
Oh and I'm fairly certain Nintendo make their revenue from using in house development teams and self publishing making software sales prime revenue, not console sales.
Not sure about him, but i am more annoyed at the fact that Nintendo abandoned the Wii U so early after doing just the bare minimum to pretend the console was alive while outputting little to no software for months.
Now we get no new Nintendo games to play and hypocrite fanboys pretending the console was dead because no sales while others are pretending it is still alive because Nintendo's prime revenue comes from imaginary software.

The only reason there was and is anything new on the Wii U Shop today other than VC is because Dan lured a bunch of indie devs into supporting the Wii U. If it was just Nintendo it would be a wasteland with 0 releases until Zelda in 2017.

And done, we derailed another topic.

jeebus i wish people like you would actually properly try it out before putting up a stupid question that you answered yourself////n00b
:teach: Easy.

Wtf this thread is full of speculations only.....

The 5.5.6 (or 5.6) update was an edited screenshot from the Nintendo Developper Interface (NDI) and was prooved to be a fake...

We don't know anything about the next Zelda. It will probably require some new libraries (so an update should be necessary), BUT IT'S JUST AN HYPOTHESE FOR NOW.

Nintendo don't care about WiiU users anymore. And its not because we can play it for free on Wii U that Switch sales will decrease or something like that...

So I think you should just wait to see what will happens ;) (and OP should update to 5.5.1, they are no reasons to not update actually)

Lol yeah but when the topics as pointless as this was a good derailing's all you can do

For the record my point about 'dead' consoles isn't about whether it's in production, out of production, receiving updates, online services etc etc.

It's that, for me, I don't care. As long as I have games to play, games I've yet to play and games my kids will play now and in the future that console isn't dead.

Arguing about Terminology is pointless a 'dead' console is a matter of perception and I stand by my statement that I find people who like to insist to me a console is 'dead' annoying.

Is the snes a dead console? It's in production again so that means it's alive by their reasoning, but it has no updates so it's dead, but it never had updates so it's alive, but no new software so it's dead..

At what point does software cease to be counted as 'alive' big developers, massive publishers, little indies, bedroom coders..
It's all relative. In my day you bought bedroom coders games on tapes at your local petrol station, they where still games.

A console has a lifespan relative only to the person who owns it, and to me the WiiU, with it's backwards compatibility, homebrew, emualation etc etc will undoubtedly be still alive, in my home, for me, for years. Possibly forever as I doubt we will see the same for switch, who knows.

I personally find the whole 'dead' console crowd pretty distasteful

It's my point of view and it is correct as it is a statement on my feelings

It's probably the most 'alive' console going atm depending on your point of view

Also 'my point of view' being the operative word here.

Do I really need to post the dictionary definitions of 'dead' to show how the term could be taken differently depending on your point of view? A dead battery isn't one out of production its one that doesn't work.

Abandoned would be more accurate, out of production more so.

I'm not wrong about any of that. I could be wrong about another update coming, if I am fair enough, if not I'm coming back here necro the shit out this post and posting I told you so.

Cos I'm a petty c*nt.
