Try this and tell me if it works http://gbatemp.net/threads/tutorial-how-to-access-nnid-and-eshop-on-9-5-0-23-emunand.407714/ if you have a Gateway card it will 100% work. If you cant get it to work you can always download and install updates as CIA's.

I didn't know they made an MSU cart for the Genesis.... I knew about the SNES one and the library for that is rather large but the Genesis one has very few games+1
