YS menu = DSTT firmware that is changed so it is compatible with the R4.

you said it wrong.
DSTT is a slot-1 flashcart. The YSMENU is the custom firmware of the DSTT for the R4, which can now be used also on other carts.

ysmenu does use the dstt loader, since ttextract takes the ttpatch.dat from the firmware which loads the rom. at least I think that's how it works.
