Is it possible to use this tool to backup the emuNAND off a 2GB card and write it onto a 4GB card, to be able to play SSB? Do I need to do any partition resizing after exporting the NAND?
Good to know, but does it resize the hidden partition to the new card's extra space?Export nand. Insert new SD card. Format emunand. Inject. Profits!
gateway formats the SD card, emunand tool just injects the old emunand into the newly set up cardGood to know, but does it resize the hidden partition to the new card's extra space?
EDIT: If I understand well, the format emuNAND part of the process does that, and the backup is restored into the larger, newly allocated space, yes?

its always (just under) 1GB i.e the size of the nandHow does gateway decide how much space to allocate for the emuNAND? For example it allocated 1GB on my 2GB SD and left ~800MB for save files and such. How much would it allocate for a 4GB card? How about 8?
I'm interested in this whole NAND swapping thing because I've heard that in order to get SSB working(it black screens currently), you need to use an SD card that is 4GB or higher. I'm perplexed as to why this works if the size allocated by the NAND remains the same.its always (just under) 1GB i.e the size of the nand
quite simply idk....not seen any real reason behind it, so for now its "magic"I'm interested in this whole NAND swapping thing because I've heard that in order to get SSB working(it black screens currently), you need to use an SD card that is 4GB or higher. Funny enough I AM using a 2GB Toshiba, but it did NOT come with the 3DS(got the console used with no memory). It's an ancient card that was expensive at its time, it came with a digital camera way back in 2005. All good to know. So I guess tomorrow when I go to the store I'll look for a card that's class 6 or 10.quite simply idk....not seen any real reason behind it, so for now its "magic"
but if i had to guess, i would say it could be down to card speeds or something i think most people on 2GB cards are using the toshiba cards that came with the 3DS......they are pretty crappy cards, could be timing issues causes it to hang
well most cards now days are like class 6-10, but the class 4 that came with the XL works fine, but just from experience the toshiba cards in the original 3DS's tend to take longer loading up emunand etc.....not really checked the write speeds or anything but at a guess im would say they may be class 2 or somethingFunny enough I AM using a 2GB Toshiba, but it did NOT come with the 3DS. The only reason the tool doesn't work with MT-Card is the different label of the SD card. The tool checks for any drives whose label matches GATEWAYEMUNAND or whatever it's called. If you rename your label to whatever MT-Card uses, it should work. I've had success with this tool but I will add my own voice to the others saying it would be better to let the user pick the drive to work with.

no you cant, the nand files are encrypted to the specific console they came fromWhy can't I use someone elses extracted NAND and inject it on my previously working Card?
If it is possible, where can I find a version? I was too fast on updating and didn't back my NAND up.
Thanks Snipe.
Actually 3DS 2GB Toshiba card is faster than 3DS XL 4GB card.well most cards now days are like class 6-10, but the class 4 that came with the XL works fine, but just from experience the toshiba cards in the original 3DS's tend to take longer loading up emunand etc.....not really checked the write speeds or anything but at a guess im would say they may be class 2 or something
