so i finally got my other issues ironed out and have started adding emulators and box art. everything up to this point has been fine. my NES boxes all came up quickly, no issues.

now i am trying to add atari 2600 and 7800 but none of the box art is showing initially. if i start a game and then exit, the game i chose and 4 boxes on either side will fill in.

i have tried reloading the cache, nothing. all of my boxes are named correctly (with the rom extension and .png) and the box path is correct. it must be because the boxes do show up, just very slowly and that's only AFTER starting and quitting a rom. i am slowly moving every 5 rooms to get them to populate but this is going to take forever, any thoughts?

thanks

Check your cache folders for 2600 and 7800 and double check that none of the .wfc files are corrupt. If there's a baddy (file size will be much smaller) delete it and try again.

Thanks for the input MS but that wasn't it. I painstakingly went thru every forth cover to finally get all covers to show. I went thru both folders caches and nothing out of the ordinary.

I thought maybe since I got all folders showing now that any corrupt wfc files would have been over written.

So now I am adding snes into the mix and it is behaving the same way. Since I only have 9 covers showing, I went into the cache folder to look for a corrupt wfc file but they are all the exact same size and nothing small, they are all 699kb I think.

Any other thoughts? I didn't mind scrolling thru every fourth game, starting and quitting to get a handful of covers to show on some of the systems that don't have as many games but I'm not looking forward to doing that with snes or Genesis, each with almost a thousand titles!

The weird thing is, my initial systems covers came up just fine, namely NES. after that it's been slow going. FYI, I did check the nes cache and it also was fine.

Oof you're having a right ballache with these aren't you....... Are you loading from sd or usb? How fast is (insert storage device here)?

You're not going to see every single new cover instantly come on as the cache files take a good second or two each (depending on your device speed this could be longer) to create - what I remember doing with a slew of new covers was waiting until the screen of, say, 12 or so games had loaded up - about 15 seconds - then hitting R on my classic controller, and letting those games load up too for another 15 seconds. Rinse and repeat etc.. Jumping over to the 'B' games for instance won't be as successful. Also note that if you've got around 1000 or so roms/isos in a particular group the program is likely to crash (at least once) before it's created a cache of every single cover in there, with I'd guess a higher likelihood of crashing if again you jumped to the next letter/page before it's fully loaded up the ones on the page you're displaying.

It's a bit slow, even on the fastest speed storage devices - I reckon you probably just need to give it a bit more time to load, and I suspect it MIGHT stop the loading process entirely if you fire a game up, until you reboot wiiflow...

thanks for the input!

I am pulling covers (boxcovers) from my SD, rated a class 10. and i know what you mean, for NES, i did the same thing, wait for the screen to load all of the images, like you said about 15 seconds, page over, wait another 15 seconds.

but what is happening now is like this; i go into the snes folder, the covers populate with the generic snes cover. i can wait all day, nothing else will happen. now if i start and then quit a snes game, when i'm back at the overflow, that games cover will populate, then one to the left, then one to the right, and so on, but only four on each side populate, after that, the generic snes cover populate the rest. again, waiting all day will not change that :)

now substitute snes with any platform, they are all doing that. even platforms with fewer titles, atari 7800, sega master system, etc, they all do the same.

i'm stumped, all of the wfc files for each platform seem to be the same size.

....Well, I've no idea then sorry! It sounds like your sd is kind of timing out, or perhaps it's full? Really though I'm just guessing here... If you've got a usb hard drive attached you can run your covers (cache, plugins.... just about anything really) from there instead.

Maybe try deleting the the whole snes folder inside cache?
Very strange anyway!

Tried all, still behaving the same. SNES cache folder, deleted. SD card still has 10gb on it so no problem there.

i do have an internal usb, it has two partitions, usb1 as fat32 for gamecube and usb2 as NTFS for wii. my fat32 partition on the drive only has a few hundred meg available.

is it possible to run wiiflow off of usb2 NTFS format?

i really appreciate the input MM!

No problems fella, I remember the woes setting the things up myself!
You MIGHT be able to use the NTFS, but I'm not sure it'll work, and would end up being a lot of changing around for nothing.. Wiiflow probably wants the primary partition, which'll be your FAT32 I'm guessing? If you use easeus partition master you can change the sizes available for any partition on a drive, perhaps taking away excess from the NTFS to use in the FAT32, without losing data, and even change primary on the fly too... could be worth a thought, but even then, I'm not entirely sure it'll fix your problem anyway, so yeah, could be a case of changing around for nothing again - I still say it might be your card (I'm guessing it's a good 32GB in size?), and changing to usb might fix your problem, but I said 'might' twice in that sentence didn't I  - it 'might' not be worth the effort!

Well I tried another card, copied from my card to the new one, still the same behavior. Next up will be to try expanding my primary use partition
