For my peace of mind before updating to a higher firmware I decided do a simple test and check which is the success rate on my current exploit and comparing BD-J and LUA. Below my current results with FW 7.61:

People on firmware 8.xx and 9.xx, can you do similar test and publish your results to help us to decide if upgrade or not?

I wasn't aware one still got kernel panics with the Lua exploit? Interesting! I'm on FW 6.00 so will give Viktorious a few tries over the next few days too... still waiting for my Lua game to arrive though..

BTW what's deemed a Fake KP?

Fake KP only happens with Viktorious as is like a kernal panic cause the screens goes black and not respond for around 10 seconds and then the screen comes back and the exploit ends just fine.
I have a lot of Fake KP and real KP in the beginning but I was adjusting my timing and on this last test I only have one.. :D

Fascinating stuff! Thanks for doing this. I assumed LUA would have had a higher success rate. Only basing this on my subjective experiences with 6.02. Things definitely improved after "kill disc" was implemented. Also this only an observation but manually injecting UMTX rather than rely on automated process is maybe more successful... I watch lot of master_s9 videos and surprised at home many attempts to take before UMTX is sent/successful. For it's almost always 1-3 attempts....

With Viktorious which pipline are you using? I find less KP crashing when I use the normal + etaHEN pipeline (option 2), compared to the AIO +etaHEN pipeline (option 1).

What options do you have as I normally only KP either as Kstuffs in loading, or as etaHEN is loading. Weirdly, using the ps4 spoofer plugin seems to add stability for me, but I'll keep monitoring this. I also have etaHEN set to not change menu or boot itemzflow automatically at all incase that affects stability.

I haven't had any KP with lua but I only used it a few times since I need to update the save. I haven't timed it but it is definitely faster than bd-jb. Running on 6.02.

I was using the same than you, pipe 2, because is more faster but the problem with Vik is that I have many KP in a row and there is not possible to improve because you cannot change anything..
WIth LUA there are room to try to improve the boot sequence to have less KP and yes, LUA is incredible faster when works fine...

Last edited by xZenithy,
I have only used pipeline one with Vik. Not even looked at the other options... Will have a play around later time permitting...
I noticed one thing though, if I disconnect the internet the PS5 takes longer to jb... There's a multitude of messages which pops up whilst the jb is in progress.... I gather it's not a happy offline jb?

All my tests are offline.. Well, the PS5 is connected to my local network (to avoid the messages that you are talking about) but on my rooter the PS5 is always blocked to access to INTERNET, so technically is totally OFFLINE...

Mines connected to my local network too and all updates are unchecked... However each time I used a blocking DNS I can't get any internet access. Not sure which DNS works now.... Tried the one mentioned on here but to no avail... I may just ask on the exploit thread come to think of it...

Do you mean popups as in the debug ones, like that tell you about loading ELF, kstuffs and etahen, or messages in the bd exploit chain as it tries to load it?

With no connection, the only different in popups, is that etahen tells me for my IP and Remote Connection something like "NO IP ADDRESS FOUND" but it's not an error, it's just because you don't have an IP address active for it to display for you, since you are offline.

Are you getting different messages to that, can you post a photo by chance?

That's no matter, if you rooter NO block the console to access to INTERNET, no matter the DNS that you are using or if they works or not, or if you are uncheck updates or whatever you want to uncheck on settings..... lol
your PS5 know how reach the sony servers...
The only setting of the console that seems that truly work is when you disable the network connection and NO IP is assigned to the console...
Doing that theoretically you are safe...

I was just testing the last etaHEN beta and on my case with the last etaHEN beta October doing exactly the same only 1 time was working well, the other 9 times I have got system error or KP when etaHen and stuff was starting or when etaHEN toolbox was staring...

But today I have found the solution , and alternative way that seems that works great, tested 5 times and 5 successful etaHEN + kstuff + etaHEN Toolbox loaded faster and smoother without using Itemzflow. Below the steps to get it working well:

1º Change your autoload.txt to load only one payload: websrv-ps5.elf (without LUA Menu)

2º Install the last version of HOMEBREW LOADER and configure etaHEN to be loaded using the HOMEBREW LOADER

Then, after you PS5 start:

1º wait that the disc spin down, start the lua game, so you get your LUA exploit + the webserver running

2º Start HOMEBREW LOADER and on the first option (if you only have etaHEN payload) you will have etaHEN, start it and that's all, in less 5 seconds etaHEN + kstuff + etaHEN Toolbox loaded faster and smoother working great!!!

Please, let me know if this alternative way is working for you on 8.xx and 9.xx faster and smoother like me on FW 7.61...

I am just so happy that found that forum where real technical people are talking.. :)
So perhaps I will get some answers, if you could help me guys:
I am on 7.61 but willing to upgrade to 9.00
BD-JB worked great but now I will use LUA:
I am autoloading lUA (so no remote injections) and UMTX, also EtaHEN loading from autoload.txt works well.
But when loading kstuff.elf, (9.00 support kstuff) I always have KP.
Is it because I am on 7.61 so it should work on 9.00 or question of some timing (pause) between EtaHEN and kstuff?
Resulting in KP even having 15 sec pause before loading kstuff.

Can you guys perhaps paste here your autoload.txt to observe?

Thanks in advance.
