Gaming EEEPC worth it?

Consider the Macbook Air. Not only is it thin, but it has enough power to do shit and has a screen don't need a magnifying glass to see the screen.

No one wants a clunk laptop that looks like shit and doesn't even work as a paperweight.

Get better eyes. If you have trouble seeing 10", you need to go see a doctor.

If you have trouble viewing a 7 inch screen, you're average, probably below. XD I'm pretty satisfied with my EEEPC 701, I bought it many months ago, and honestly I never planned on gaming on it, and because of that, it does everything I want. Longer battery life would be nice though.

EDIT: I'm looking at getting a new one, seeing as a few friends want to buy out my EEEPC. Supposed I want something JUST as small as the EEEPC 701 (MSI Wind, although nice, is just a BIT too big), looking at the Acer, anyone have any comments?

if you want long battery life...how about the eeePC 901? It gets around 6 hours with the standard 6 cell battery and there are 8800 mAh batteries for around 80 euro (they will become cheaper if you ask me) on amazon which should give you around 8 hours+
or buy a 10400 mAh battery for your 701? it's around 60 euro on amazon

If you really want good battery life then go for the new EEE 1000h or the 901 which both have well over 5 hours of battery life.

I use my eeepc 701 XP in bed nearly every day.

guess the only issue is its only good for web surfing, videos and old skool games.. hard to do any office work and such on it

I use my Medion Akoya mini (rebranded MSI Wind) almost every day! The only down side at this moment is the 3cell battery... So that is why the eee 1000h is kinda intersting now, but I am using my cool netbook for around 2 months now! I even installed a tripple boot winXP mac OSX and Ubuntu 8.04 on it

But at this moment winXP just works the best for me. OSX has some problems with my wireless and audio out wich I use a lot for headphones... And I rather use linux Mint then Ubuntu but that doesnt work at this moment

So at this moment it is win XP with slanXP final skin from deviantart

How long do you think my eee701 will last with an 8800mah or 10400mah?

for the 900(not A!)/701/702/700 there are 6600/7800/10400 batteries avaible...with a 10400 it should last around 7 hours of normal use with wlan on, with the 6600 near 4 hours and with a 7800 something between 4,5 - 5,5 hours

6600 and 10400 batteries from Cameron Sino are quite cheap...the 7800 batteries I found were from Bluetrade.eu and Mugen (found no good seller here...) and quite expensive

The 6600 mAh battery sticks out behind while your eeePC remains flat, but it restricts the screen from being bend too much behind...okay for a desktop but otherwise not that good...the 10400 mAh battery lifts your eeePC quite a bit up (it's a real monster

)

If all you need is medium to low power in terms of processing and you only plan to do basic tasks such as surf the net, download youporn and type a few documents, then an MSI or an EEPC should be fine.

However, if you need more power similar to your standard desktop computer but in a smaller more portable form factor then go for the Everrun Note Dual Core.

I take back what i said, the only reason EEEpc was rated better was because at the time of writing EEEpc had 6 cell battery and MSI wind had 3 cell. Now, Winds ship with a 6 cell batt. I've now decided i'm going to get the MSI Wind U90 because it is smaller, cheaper and the only sacrifice is bluetooth.

So the only real difference between SSD and normal HDD is that one can survive more shocks but for a trade off of only have a low HDD space. Is it true that SSD has a shorter life?

Average laptop HDD life is about 2 years, I would think that SSD drive would last far longer then that. With both of my laptops I have had to replace that hard drive within 2 years.

I've had the same HDD in 4 different laptops over 7 years and it's still in working order.
