The guy is just being bitter because he spent $400 on something he didn't really need. Read through the comments. People are quite happy with their EEEs. The general agreement is: switch to Windows XP or Ubuntu, and if you have to work on it for extended periods of time, use an external monitor.

I had a feeling this topic was started by Urza (this is |papuu| from #gbatemp.net)

I received my black 4G a few weeks ago, and have installed XP Pro in order to use my Bluetooth dongle to connect to the internet from anywhere via my cell phone, and to run Steam without having to use Wine.

I use a Playstation CD case to store my EEE in (I got the case when I became a member of the Gamer Advisory Panel), that fits the EEE perfectly!

Oh come now, how can you hold such a small thing like unprofessionalism and bias against them?

My favourite "flaw" the guy saw in the EEE is that the "screen is small".

It's a 7'' screen! What did he expect? It says seven inch and he got seven inch - and he's complaining. Doesn't he have a ruler at home? Doesn't he know how big seven inches really is? I guess he thought the whole "7-inch screen" thing was a test of humility. I guess he expected to be rewarded for being so humble as to accept the small size by having the screen magically grow in transport or something. He seems really disappointed that the screen actually ended up the size it was announced to be.

And the arch-proof that the screen is "too small" is that his wife would bury her face into the screen while working. Um, with 800*480 at 7'', the EEE has less DPI than an average laptop monitor. Meaning, exact same fonts are bigger on the EEE monitor (and thus easier to see). Meaning, the darling wife is just short-sighted, and would have even more trouble with a bigger laptop. But hey, "my wife won't admit she needs glasses so I'll bash the EEE for it" is sound reviewer practice, right? Right?

The answer is no.

K, because I use my UX280 I have no need for this eepc however as stated this will be a good option for my employees so I just placed an order for this:

Haven't tried it myself, but I would think not very. You could backup the entire drive onto a DVD (or make cloning even simpler and boot the OS from SDHC cards).

Hmmmm very interesting....so once Windows is activated... I could then copy the SDHC to other SDHCs and not have to worry about Windows asking me to activate again....

I was in Hong Kong and I saw this in a store for quite cheap in an electrical store. Sadly the thing that put me off spending it was

1. I already have a laptop
2. It will really only be handy when I am travelling (which is rare) and I need wifi closeby
3. Low space (but hey, USB pen drives are cheap so I don't mind using them)

Wish I wasn't so protective over my current laptop and I could take it out of the house one day

SDHC cards are the way to go. 8GB runs about 30USD, 16GB is 60USD. Just pop one into the slot and forget about it.

EeePC is really awesome. I'd really love to get one if I didn't already have a laptop I love, lol. For that price and its portability, it would make such a great study aid in college; being able to take it out and type up notes. Laptop I have right now is a tablet pc, and I really need the tablet part of this, lots of my classes have diagrams I need for tests, lol. If the EeePC got a touch screen, and a slightly bigger HD (perhaps a swappable SSD) I'd be all over it for my next laptop, err first UMPC? Can't wait to see what Asus has in line for this series of computers.
