(This might be in the wrong section, not completely sure)

I've been looking into it for the past few days, and have learned a lot about the .3ds format.

What I want to do, is change the banner from my Cubic Ninja game I dumped from the cart and add the NINJHAX logo as the banner for the game.

From what I've gathered so far, I need to extract the exefs.bin in the game and there should be a banner.bin in there that I replace?

So, I guess the question is, what tools would be needed to do this? I've tried several different tools but cant seem to get that exefs.bin extracted.

Thanks

Man I'm hitting a brickwall trying to figure this out. :(

Got as far as getting the rom to show up properly in gateway menu so its icon/name shows correctly.

Same goes for the replaced banner, it has changed from the CN one to the NSMB2 one i replaced it with (had that one handy already).

Game launches but just gets stuck at the "Nintendo 3ds" logo screen and sits there forever with its moving red crap doing its thing. argh!

I'm trying SMOKE I'm trying!! haha :)

Well the romfs doesn't really get touched except from decrypting in the process of pulling the rom apart and is left alone after that until rebuilding time.

So i dunno what it is, could be something wrong or missing in the rsf file or in my makerom commands ooooooooor it just doesn't like me.

If anyone wants this, I'm posting here

1. Extract and decrypt the rom file.
2. Download the attachment with the custom banner.bin you see in the screenshot above.
3. Move these files into a new folder to keep things tidy
-custom banner.bin
-icon.bin
-code.bin
-the generated rsf file
-decrypted exheader.bin
-decrypted romfs.bin
4. Now all you have to do is rebuild the rom. For that I used this: https://gbatemp.net/threads/tool-makerom-gui.376540/

Note: I realize this tutorial is pretty bad. If needed I will go in depth with a proper tutorial.

If you need any help or run into problems, please let me know and I'll try my best to help :)

so.... and how exactly did you do that?
I don't want to download someones banner, I want to create my own. How can I do this?

Just use this banner maker: https://github.com/AlbertoSONIC/3DS_Banner_Maker

The banner image must be the same size as the one provided.

So simply make an image, run the BUILD.bat and your banner.bin will be in the main folder.

EDIT:
Also if you'd like to share yours that would be nice. I know my image editing is bad xD

Could you please make a proper tutorial (a video would be nice). These steps would be nice to be described in depth
1. How to decrypt a rom from save data backup
2. A deeper tutorial on editing the banner
3. How to re-patch it and put the modified save game file on the actual game

Slightly related question, has anyone looked into the 3D format for banners?

the banners are cgfx format, and Every File Explorer seems to load them, but I don't know if you can edit them. you'd have to ask Gericom about that.

I'm pretty sure there's already a couple of tutorials on how to do most of that stuff...
