Earthbound problems (WARNING: Spoilers!)

Buzz Buzz v. Pokey

Why didn't Buzz Buzz just bitch-slap Pokey from the start? Or is this one of those pre-crime paradoxes (see The Minority Report), and by extension a grandfather paradox?

Because BuzzBuzz's death wasn't recorded in full detail. He was treated as an ordinary insect by Pokey's mom when he died.
And apparently no one cared about him since

I think by now people know it's a spoiler thread, so I won't bother with the tags.

Anyways perhaps in the original future, Pokey wasn't who he was. I mean wasn't it partially due to his interactions with Ness (and the happenings around Ness) that changed him?

Some of those happenings didn't involve Ness directly.
Lier X. Aggerate (sp? It's supposed to be a play on "Liar, Exaggerate") in the opening scene tells you about the Mani Mani statue that he just happened to have unearthed. Pokey follows its progress from Happy Happy Village to Fourside (where it's destroyed in the illusory Moonside). From there he lusts forth with power.

I wondered that myself. Of course with time travel you never truly know what the fuck's going on...

Well it's pretty much established that once buzz buzz went back to the past, the future he came from wasn't concrete anymore.
