Depends. I'm playing through it now, and I'm about 2-3 hours in and I've had 0 scares through the majority of the game.

Also, a little off topic, I totally just watched Stephen King's "It" like...last night. Lol

Can't think if I've played anything that I'd class as scary recently. Condemned could be a little jumpy in places. Project Zero on the ps2 when that first came out was decent as well for scares. Nothing for me this gen though has really hit the spot. Alan Wake had its moments but was miss more often than hit, but that's all I can think of.

I'll just snag Dead Space 3 once it's below the ~£20 mark. The first game wasn't as stellar as I'd hoped, but I've yet to play Dead Space 2.. Not my favorite franchise, but it does/did have a lot of potential.

Dead Space reminded me of the good old Half Life mod USS Darkstar. Oh the memories..

Then again, you're quite a bit older too. I think most kids are scared of quite a few things more than adults :P

Actually, I thought Corpse Party was pretty nerve jangling in places. As well as one game on the DS which name escapes me but it was a first person adventure where you get sucked into an old 8bit game every now and again...what the bloody hell was that called?!?!

I wouldn't say Corpse Party was scary at any point - Corpse Party was making the player feel uneasy, and that's a very different thing altogether. It was unsettling, I'd say it was more "terror" than "horror".

The other game you're refering to Has No Name. :tpi:

No, seriously. "Nanashi no Game" - "The Nameless Game" (or "The Game with No Name")

Thats the one! Nameless game. I was impressed with that.

I mean the mass effect series was great, and if people bitch that much about an ending, you get go fop yourself.

hmm i wonder why dead space died a horrible death? oh thats right! you were charging people for ammo and all sorts ingame while they already paid full price for the game already! congrats EA! you had this coming and i hope more people wise up and stop buying the rest of your games too, such a corporal greedy pigsty company they have no shame whatsoever.

As I understand it was optional and not needed to complete the game or "all but required to" complete the game.

Corporal Greedy.... is that a relation to that Corporal Greed you mentioned the other day in http://gbatemp.net/threads/cliffy-b-games-industry-in-state-of-turmoil.343689/#post-4566989 ?

The first Dead Space is still one of my favorite games. They really nailed the claustrophobic, "on-your-own" aspects of survival horror. I still haven't played DS2 (though I want to) but I had no interest in playing DS3 based on advertisments portraying the game as more action and less horror... Same reason I haven't gone anywhere near Resident Evil 6

There's something broken about a business model where you need to sell 5 million copies for it to be worth it.

Huh, that's weird, when I was playing it you didn't have to pay for ammo cuz it was on the ground and *GASP* THEY DIDN'T MAKE ME PAY FOR ANYTHING.

If you honestly think EA is the only "corporal greedy pigsty company" then I hate to tell you this, but you are completely wrong. Hell, if you can find any game company out there whose sole purpose isn't to make money, I'll leave the internet forever.
