I know (e) means its the European version and (u) means United States, but the (e) version still comes with English on it, yeah? Is there a reason to go with one version over the other (assuming all I want out of it is the ability to read English)?

As just a matter of preference I always use the U version before the E version, just because. If I was from the UK I'd probably prefer the E over the U version...

Someone with more authority on the subject would have to tell you if there were any differences.

Usually the US version will be somewhat smaller than the EU version simply because it doesn't have four or five copies of the script laying around. Obviously, how much of an effect this will have depends on how much dialogue is in the game. There are, however, cases where glitches in the US version have been fixed for the EU version (for example, Final Fantasy IV on GBA or Zoo Keeper on DS).

Some E versions have more content and extras to the U versions since Europe gets most games last for example Bangai o Sprites had a few extra stage that was'nt in the Japanese version for tjhe E and U version. Some E versions will have more languages in them to the U versions and Bubble bobble Revoultion the U version had a stage 3 glitch making it unbeatable that was'nt in the E or Japan version of the game that came out first.

As a rule of thumb, it's normally better to get the version with the later release number since they normally have extra contents or bug fixes. Since European versions almost always come out after the North American version, it's the European versions that have later release numbers, therefore the better version.

There are a few exceptions to this rules, though, like Megaman ZXA (the European version has no voice acting, though some argue that's an improvement) or AW DoR/DC (the translations were done independently between the US and EU, and some people prefer the American translation).

Another issue is that some European games detect your DS settings to change the game language to whatever the DS is. Some flashcarts (like the R4) would mislead the game into thinking your DS is set to another language. When I played Warhammer 40k on my old R4 it set the language to Spanish for some reason.

which is best completely depends on the game.

and example of where the US release is the best:
naruto ninja destiny.

the japanese version is missing 3 or 4 chars, european is missing 1 char several stages and voices.

i usually prefer US releases since they come sooner, and they don't have annoying language selectors.

E releases contain extra languages, which is useful if you speak one of them

Sometimes the American English is changed to proper English (

) but it often isn't.

Sometimes the E versions contain bugfixes or different/extra content.

The E version is compatible with Europe/Aus (authentic) carts with region locked multiplayer.

The primary reason to get U releases is that they are released before E, but if there is an E version out you may want to get that.

hmm, what about the english? Is it still the same? or is it british?

English comes from England. You can't have 'British English'. You can however have 'American English'. English from England is the true English

However, majority of games stick with American English probably because it's less work.

One more reason to get a specific region game is online WiFi. You'll want to get the version local to you to minimize lag in that case.

Most of the time (or as I have noticed) E games are usually larger files. Mainly due to the fact that European games have more content and they also have more langauge options not found in either the J or U versions of the same game. So I usually go with U unless I have a good reason not to. Such as bounus or exclusive content.

I've been trying to find a list of games that haven't come out in the US but have (E) versions. The only one I know of right now though is Pic Pic. Does anyone have a list or know anymore?

Yea Cooking Guide - Can't Decide what to eat is a REALLY cool app, however for some recipes (for instance ones that contain flour) the way they grade or measure (i remember having to look up the type of flour it asked for on wikipedia..) can be kind of confusing .. which is shameful since Im from canada and we do use metric

On one of the harvest moon games, in the US version, there was a bug with the harvest sprite casino where you could only unlock one of the three games, however in the E version it worked fine.

Well, from what I've heard from my parents, he had a seizure last night, perhaps an epileptic episode, fucking died, had a near death experience, my dad called the paramedics, they showed up, took him to the hospital, and he woke up covered in tubes, and started complaining.
