    DVDx is dead.
Everything uses AHBPROT now, which you can take advantage of with the latest homebrew channel.

How old is your wii ? Most new wiis (about 2 years old or less) can't physically read regular dvds so there is no way to run them .

Never heard softchip but I guess its some ancient way of running backups . Anyway if your wii support then just use NeoGamma .

Just install the latest d2x cios & use NeoGamma to launch the backups .

Maybe you should even consider to update the whole Wii/Mod with ModMii (look at the Sticky). SoftChip and DVDX are outdated and dead...
