dumb question and not necessarily for the switch

this is probably a dumb question but i noticed i've had to format a lot of memory cards or HDDs to FAT32 for some reason and its not just the switch i've done so on my wii and probably my 3ds though i don't remember, also my dsi i think so i was wondering why it was always FAT32 except for my vita i guess

Devices like the Wii and 3DS only support FAT32, and while the Switch supports exFAT, the Switch's exFAT driver is buggy and very much not recommended.
