In my experience using the Dualshock 4 on the steam deck while it is docked causes the console to be very slow versus having it undocked with a DualShock controller connected to it via bluetooth. Does anybody know if this has been fixed or does not have a problem doing this using Bazzite os? I cannot speak if this is a problem for the first generation of steam deck but it is very apparent on the OLED. I have to use an Xbox 360 wireless adapter with a wireless controller and everything works fine. Or if I use the Dualshock 4 directly connected with a micro USB it works just fine as well. But as soon as I go Bluetooth wireless with a Dualshock 4 using any game on the steam deck, it slows any game way down.

So does anybody know a fix for this or do I have to go to bazite OS in order for this problem to go away? I have updated my deck multiple times through the course of new updates coming out with no resolution. No I am not going to buy another controller for an Xbox when I have enough controllers. No I am not going to use my steam deck only in handheld. I'm not looking for a lazy Band-Aid but an actual resolution

That sounds super frustrating! I haven't tried Bazzite OS, but maybe give it a shot since updates haven’t fixed the issue. You could also try a different Bluetooth adapter, just in case it’s a hardware conflict.

I tried 2 different bluetooth adapters with the same result. But good thinking👍🏻

Strange. I've used a ps4 controller + official deck dock + original steam deck without issues whatsoever (ps4 wireless, of course). It's been some time, but I'll try again and check if recent updates have botched something.
I don't have an oled, so I can't say anything on that front.

Make sure it is in the dock and connected to an external display that you are playing on.

Sorry... It seems the Bluetooth connection is out(unsure whether the receiver on deck's end of ps4 controller). It works over cable, but obviously that's not helping you out. :(

The weird but interesting thing is that if you have the deck and do not connect it to an external monitor and still use the DualShock 4, everything works just fine without any lag or stuttering.

That's certaily strange.
Hmm...it's not the same, but I could run a test with a PS5 controller and see if that does anything?

Give it a go. I like the dualshock 4 out of all the controllers. But the more testing we do, the better. Hopefully someone reads this and knows how to correct it.

I ended up using an xbox 360 controller with the pc wireless adapter. This seems to be the only reliable way to play.

I have no idea what bumping means even though it is alot of forums. But if you never ask, you will never know.

There have been 2 system updates that I know of since this post. But I have not tried it again since a week or 2 after this post. What. Bummer because I bought the magma red dualshock 4 to play on my deck🤷🏼‍♂️

Today I tried it out with my stadia controller because both of my DualShock 4s were dead. The stadia controller connected as Bluetooth had no problems. I am also going through my Bluetooth stereo in the living room that has everything synced properly and no slowdowns during the game. I have also been watching MP4 files and the audio is in sync. One of these updates that came out might have fixed this problem. Hopefully they have..

Here's my update. I have spent quite a bit of time today playing around with a dualshock 4 and have noticed how while gaming, you can get lag in the control and random movements that are finally catching up and making the game unplayable. I have also noticed that the Bluetooth audio when going through a speaker sounds like a skipping CD at times. These problems are remedied by upping the wattage and adjusting video card megahertz to a stable place. An easier way of saying it would be to make sure you are running enough wattage for the deck to give enough power. Without sufficient power I think everybody would experience these issues. I do not like to run my deck above 70 Celsius. But some games I am finding I am meeting those numbers instead of my comfortable 55. Each game may be different and you will have to change the wattage accordingly. You may also have to change your video settings within the game so that this is not a problem and you are not sucking up too much power. At the end of the day, this is a steam deck and not a powerful PC. But it is doable and I have found that this has remedied the problem.

Mileage may vary and I have gone back to desktop mode to watch MP4 video files and it is still sounding like CD audio skipping. Maybe I just had a good run for a little while. Hopefully somebody can figure this out because I'm starting to feel that valve is being lazy and fixing this.

One weird thing I have noticed is that the dualshock 4 controller needs to be about 2 ft from the steam deck in order for it to have no lag as well
