DSx86 version 0.34 released!

This is a quick fix version, to fix a couple of problems introduced by the serious freezing problem fixing in version 0.33:
- This version supports 'sudokuhax' again.
- The keyboard reading and screen blitting order was restored.
- A couple of very minor additional improvements.

Hi Pate, thank you for the amazing work, but i'd like to report a error with the version 0.33, when i try to initialize the program using Sudokuhax, it gives me the following error:

**** DSx86 v0.33 by Patrick Alto ****

BIOS date: May 29 2011
Running in DSi mode!
Initializing LibFAT: FAILURE!

Could not find '/DATA/DSx86/DSx86.INI'!
Could not find '/DSx86.INI'!
Starting command shell:
Try C:\DATA\DSx86\4DOS\4DOS.COM ...Fail!
Try C:\DATA\DSx86\4DOS.COM ...Fail!
Try C:\4DOS\4DOS.COM ...Fail!
Try C:\4DOS.COM ...Fail!
No Shell! System halted.

Previous version works fine in DSi mode and 4DOS is on the right folder. Also, v0.33 works in DS mode too.

Pate has eliminated (temporaly, i presume

) access to sd necessary for sudokuhax exploit because memory problems, so until farther notice only DSi flash compatible.

EDIT: Oppps!!! new version while i write an answer

Windows 3.1 isn't supported yet. Windows 3.00a should work.

I think the DSTwo version has lower compatibility than the normal version. What else have you tried?

Doom, Warcraft 1, and a few other games.
Some games like darkseed and Strife do work for me though

I will try and find a copy of Windows 3.00a then
Edit: Good news, I got everything working now and found the files. Turns out I just needed to set them up on the computer and now they work

Yeah, I have mostly worked on getting the actual games to work in DSx86, and have not much tested the install programs of the games. I usually install the games (or other software) in DOSBox and then just copy the installed directory to the SD cart. It is usually much faster that way, too.

DSx86 version 0.35 released!

This version has the following fixes and improvements:
- Fixed a rare memory access problem introduced in version 0.30. This affected Dune 2 and possibly also other games.
- Fixed a register globbering problem in mouse callback routine, which caused Populous 2 to quit to DOS immediately after moving the mouse.
- Fixed an unsupported INT call and hanging problem in Battle Bugs.
- Improved PC Speaker audio handling and VGA 640x480 mode handling.

I think System Shock and Aladdin need a 386 machine, so those will perhaps be supported in DS2x86, but not in the plain DSx86, sorry.

Guys, last night i got this running on the ds, and played commander keen 6 and ultima 4 (since those appeared as playable on the compatibility list), but i don't know many games from the DOS era. Could you recommend me some? (specially the ones that are playable)

I have some reccomendations

Buck Rogers - Countdown to doomsday (print out the quest log onto paper)- (Note -- you may need to change the savepath in the buck.cfg file to avoid the "save 3 " error.)

Bards Tale -(print out the spell list and use graph paper to map the game)

Pool of Radiance (print out the quest log)

AmberStar (read the manual, and print out the rune chart)

Populous (one of the first god games)

Day of the Tentacle (good adventure)

Master of Orion (good 4x)

Moonstone (good fantasy gore game)

Sam And Max Hit The Road (good adventure)

as I saw that the linker could access the cyclo dsi dsi mode, it means that the mode dsi was cracked? we may have the chance to see the same thing for the way 3ds

I tried moonstone on the latest dsx86 and the sound hangs, it seems fine otherwise .

BTW dsx86 is a great feat of software engineering

Thanks for the compliments slenkar! I think I have looked into the Moonstone audio problem in the past, but I can't remember what the problem was. It might have been something difficult to fix. Anyways, I am currently working on some game-specific fixes, so I might try looking into that problem again.

any more OpCode support?

would LOVE to play the GOOD Aladdin game (for PC. NOT SNES.) or One Must Fall 2097, Crusader, or possibly even Blackthorne (PC version with violence) on the DS

I noticed that, on the 3DS, when I use this emulator, or the DStwo version, the virtual keyboard isn't calibrated right. When I hold Select and then start the DStwo flashcard it works fine though.
