Hacking DSTwo Reset code sample files

Okay, I managed to get HBMenu to compile. Again, only by some amendments. Although it runs on my DS, it seems to stop when attempting to "run" any nds file. I had to remove some of the lines from installBootStub that were causing errors, and I couldn't find any reference to resetARM7 in any of the code so I tried commenting it out. I presume one of these two things is causing the problem, any ideas?

Thats what I thought, from viewing the other examples. I've got no idea where this "resetARM7" is located though, it doesn't appear to be anywhere in the source code, and I'm pretty certain it's not part of libnds or anything.

Do you mind if I ask how you went about it? I have the compiled load.bin file now, but without managing to get the hbmenu to work, I've got no idea how to use it :/

Or I am completely on the wrong lines at the minute? My assumption is that load.bin actually loads the file, this precompiled file is inserted into the RAM somewhere, and run?

-edit-

Sorry that this thread is sort of getting off-topic

Homebrew Menu works! It turns out my DevKitPro was out of date, so I updated it. ResetARM7 must be a new addition to the latest version. HBMenu now compiles and runs an NDS file. Now I have the relatively easy job of extracting the executing code and including it in all my own programs

Thanks for the help guys.

p.s. I've not tried recompiling the reset sample under the latest toolchain, so I can't verify if my initial problems are fixed aswell. I might try it out later and confirm it.

so wait, stormwave, you made a homebrew channel for dstwo? where can i download it? and does it hookup to filetrip?I think you're getting a little confused

Homebrew Menu is.QUOTEa simple launcher intended to support DS homebrew developers and their users
Which if I understand right, & I'm sure Stormwave (& others) will confirm or not, is just a piece of coding to allow developers to run other Homebrew from their own Homebrew...
[The info is @ http://wiki.devkitpro.org/index.php/Homebrew_Menu]

The thing is that Stormwave is trying to figure out a way to 'reset' his programs to allow users to go back to their flashcarts own firmware without having to switch on/off their DS.

CannonFoddr is quite right, thats all Homebrew Menu is. However, I might make something similar to what you have described in the near future, as I think downloading directly from filetrip and installing onto a memory card would be very convenient.

I would be very interested in helping with such an app, sort of like a gbatemp HBWare. However my skills are not so great.

I think he was referring to this certain field of coding (resetting/homebrew menu) and not DS homebrew in general.

Actually, it was my talent in general. I have no problem using tools like palib, which provides functions for setting up the screen mode etc. but I have never really tried to use libnds by itself to create a homebrew. Neither have I done anything real with networking and downloading files. Loading homebrew is real easy with the tools currently available though.

Well that's depressing. The guy who has made 4 awesome firmware says he's not too good at homebrew coding :\
