I have a english r4 and I cant buy a new DSTT. Is there any method of using the DSTT firmware to startup on the r4? i tried using R4crypt by chism and it never booted up. (the 9 blue dots keep flashing) it never ends. can you post a download for the patched DSTT firmware (works on r4)?

The DSTT firmware will not run on the R4. The hardware is different. The only reason the DSTT firmware can be hacked to run on the SCDS1 is because its hardware is very similar to the DSTT's hardware.

YASU menu can work on R4 which is a kinda TTDS hack

Current version of YSmenu works with the R4

To make it work:
1. grab YSmenu http://home.usay.jp/pc/etc/nds/YSMenu0805222222.zip
2. extract it to the root of your microSD card
3. grab the DSTT firmware http://www.pspmyspace.com/techstuffs/files/dstt_v1.1.zip
4. extract it to the root of your microSD card
5. run ttextract.exe, that will generate ttpatch.dat, ttdldi.dat, r4patch.dat
6. rename YSmenu.nds to default.nds, so that it starts automatically
7. edit the YSmenu.ini to use the english language
8. boot DS with the microSD in your R4

I've had success loading commercial NDS rom dumps from YSmenu, and GBA dumps too (with my 3in1), but not homebrew yet, as there's no r4dldi.dat

update:
the YSmenu.nds is dldi patched for the DSTT by default, so if you dldi patch it to R4DS, then encrypt it with r4crypt, you can use it as your _DS_MENU.DAT instead of having it start as a default.nds
