Hacking DSL replacement cases/shells Customizations

Yeah I thought about that. I'm going to put painter's tape on all screw holes before I begin painting.

EDIT: I'm looking at one of my old shells, and I'm thinking about what I'm going to paint and what I'm going to leave clear.

Here are some things I'm thinking about not painting:
-screwholes (obviously)
-the backing of the battery housing (it won't be visible from the outside anyway)
-the area where the volume and power switches touch the case (they will be easy to paint, but I'm not sure if the back-and-forth motion of the switches will cause the paint to chip. I'll be sure to test this out on a practice shell before I make my final decision)
-the entire hinge assembly (I would like to, but I think that it would end up looking bad, because there are just too many little corners and things of that nature that will prevent me from getting an even coat)

I've realized that all of the little ridges inside of the case (especially the bottom shell) will show up on the outside when I'm done. I think that this will make it look even better.

I'm going to try to paint the buttons. If they turn out badly I can use my black buttons instead.

So, what does everyone think?

Yay! Both my case and paint have shipped. I should have them by next week. I can't wait to try this out.
