i never know. he might get pissed off from this and abandon ds homebrew scene like dragonminded did.

Yea my bad i actually posted 3 times, Something was wrong with the site when i posted, it was loading hella slow.

But if he did leave.. that would just be bad. who is this dragonminded fella you speak of lol.

Yeah, I think you should ask spinal if he's OK with you doing this. After all, he did put a lot of work into DSision2. Not only that, You are using his boxart without permission, the name without permission (which you need to get from Jayenkai, as he came up with it) and a lot of those 'new' features are already in DSision2. I do hope though, that you do not have access to the DSision2 source, as there are very few people have even seen it and they do not have permission to share it.

I think it's a priority for everyone else though

If you contact Spinal (why not PM him) perhaps he will allow you to work with him & he'll give you access to the source code - & maybe between the two of you, you may be able to find out WHY it doesn't work with SDHC cards

To emphasize an obvious mistake. After all, he has all the rights to post something like that.

Indeed, 'tis a really bad idea to just come along and take something that isn't yours, especially if you then pretend that it's part of the original lineage.

In many ways, our communities are built upon fangames. We all make our own Asteroids, and Space Invaders, and QBerts, but at least we're vaguely imaginitive enough to turn them into "Rocks in Space!!" and "Invaders in Space!!" and "Obscurely diagonally placed floating squares in Space!!"

If you can pull of "DSision3", then you can pull of "Your Menu, how you like it, with your branding, get many peeps happy and a bit of publicity for yourself"
Otherwise, you might as well just ask Spinal to add the features, 'cos whatever you feel you've done, I guarantee you won't get any credit for it. EVERYONE will be thanking Spinal for DSision3.

For the record, anyone makes a JNKPlat game, and I'm coming after them with a big stick.

I think ill stop. Though i wasn't in it for the credit really lol. (Its really not that great if random people praise a random "username" imo honestly) I was just improving it and trying to make it better and seeing if anyone else wanted it while i was at it.

But im guessing this okay for me to edit for my own personal use?

I guess for 'personnal use' it should be ok .... However if you've modified it - why not send a copy to Spinal.
Maybe if he likes them he'll let you distribute it - but perhaps calling it something else to distinguish it between the 'official' & 'non-official - but with Spinal's blessing' version ('DSision 2+' perhaps ??)

Or maybe he'll even allow you to become 'co-developer' for it

Still the question remains - where did you get the source code? As spinal said - it's closed source and few people have access to that. You not being one of those few.

as others have said i'd suggest simply giving it a name change, after all you're coding it yourself, not using spinal's source so you want credit for it
