Homebrew Dsimenu+++ vs twl loader

So I haven't really touched my 3ds in awhile,and I've heard about this new homebrew app like twl loader called dsimenu+++.I'm not sure if there is much diffrence between the two.


So i decided to check up on twl loader and there has been some major updates.


Both platinum and soul silver work at cart speed now without any lag.However soul silver still needs a offical ds game cart in order to boot past the title screen and function properly,otherwise you get a black screen


Pokemon black/white 1 also work now as long as you turn the c gear off and you use a exp patched rom.The game will sometimes lag for like 3 seconds,but it's nothing gamebreaking.As long as you turn off the c gear the game wont permanently freeze and you can save.


Last but not least is black 2 and white 2,which seems to always load into a error while booting on the twl loader.


Ds loading off the 3ds has come a long way.

The recent bootstraps are getting pretty amazing and rapidly improving. Not sure if TWLoader is still compatabile, but the moment it isn't, the answer is pretty obvious as to which to use.

Not everyone is happy that TWLoader is getting the boot, but the way you went about making your statement was not insightful and was disrespectful. As long as you learned from that mistake, perhaps apologies to Robz8, and turn that negative energy in presenting a better argument in why TWLoader should be maintained, then maybe he'll come back to it once the nds-bootstrap crew have tackled the real pressing issue: 100% game compatibility *.

* They say the journey is more important than the destination.

I, TurdPooCharger, like using TWLoader much more than DSiMenu++ because its GUI is more polished, has sharper resolution, more user customization option like colors + transparency, and neat/cool little boxarts for my game collections. All of these when put together makes me feels happy using this really fancy schmancy app that is not felt in DSiMenu++. It's totally understandable why TWLoader had to be dropped because tackling similarly functioning but two distinct projects was slowing or threatening the overall progress of both. Is it cool you could bring it back some day in the off chance once DSiMenu++ is, more or less, perfected? Thanks.

Btw, if you makes you feel any better, I think the last release TWLoader is still compatibility with the latest nds-bootstrap. You don't have to drop TWLoader right at this instant if the switch is too hard. I use both to prepare for that day.

DSiMenu++ has extra functionality, as it also acts as a DSi homebrew menu. There isn't much DSi homebrew out there, but what there is DSiMenu++ can play.

iirc there are still a few that don't function due to anti-piracy measures, the only reason everything's working for you is because you're not playing every single game released for the DS (& the compatibility list isn't complete anymore)

And yes, I personally prefer the TestMenu+DevMenu combo to official 9.0+ home and its lame loading speed (though it could be further improved by replacing DevMenu with an hypothetical homebrew that just allows selecting from a cached list of installed titles)... I'm not a fan of unnecessary* GUIs

* another word with the same problem of "better" - all too easy to accidentally make valid opinion sound as something objective

In the end, they're both just game launchers. The one that gets the job done faster should be the better one, which is DSiMenu++. It doesn't waste my time loading pretty box art I don't care about.
Do you just launch TWLoader, admire the box art, listen to the fancy sound effects, play with the settings menu, and then just leave without even launching a game?

Hell yeah I do.
