I'm considering buying a DSi XL but I'm not sure about its screens. Do games really look pixelated on the DSi XL? I haven't any definite answer on this on the net.

Supposedly, it is to have the same resolution as the DSi. That means that there shouldn't be any pixelation, but people have said that they might notice a few in gameplay.

No, the screens shouldn't be pixelated. The native res is the same. The pixel density will increase, but will most likely not be noticeable.

I've seen one (game store clerk imported one and showed me), the difference is not noticeable really. The screen size really seems larger, but the actual resolution is the same. Just the individual pixels are each slightly larger. And there are hundreds of those. Resizing each individual pixel will not create much pixellation, considering the sheer amount of individual pixels there are. It would be noticeable if the screens were 2x as big, but they aren't.

Of course with bigger screens you'd be playing at a longer distance so even if there were pixels you wouldn't be able to really tell.

I just bought myself an LL (jap ver for XL), and the games seems normal to me (i don't tire my eyes too much)
since i don't know what a pixelated game looks like

How does it feel in the hands? The games really don't seem more pixelated?

I'm actually seriously considering of getting one ( it would be the 4th DS incarnation I buy ), and obviously just for the larger screen, so I shouldn't be disappointed.
Often times I play my DS while laying on the couch or on my bad, and my problem is that in order to decently see what's going on on the screen without too much eye strain, I hold the DS fairly close to my face, I would say 7 - 8 inches away ( due to the small screen ).
What happens is that after a little while my hands kind of fall asleep because of the angle I bend my arms in order to hold the DS that close, and I noticed that if I increase the distance, the blood starts to flow again and the unpleasant sensation goes away.....but I can't really play a game like that as I miss a lot of details.
So naturally if the screens are twice as big, I should be able to hold it at a larger distance from my face , without missing any details or notice any pixelation ( it's all a matter of distance, if I would get that close to my 37" TV I would notice pixelation too ) AND feeling comfortable about it.
Plus it's been said that the viewing angles are vastly improved, and I can't wait to try one of those games that play with the DS turned 90 degrees ( or even those Bowser fighting segments in Mario and Luigi ) to see how it performs.
So no down side really in getting one, apart spending the cash on it of course and the missing GBA slot ( for using my old Supercard slot-2 and M3 perfect which I still use for homebrew ).
But older flshcards will not work anyway so it's not really a bid deal.
I'd love to find out how compatible will the various FLASHCARDSi be with the newer firmware, and if there are any other piracy related issues.

Just Run the Gba emulator on a WII outputing through a 32" Tv and you'll see what pixelated means

It feels great, at 1st i thought its going to be sooo huge and heavy (after reading some articles about the size and weight) but apparently, it fits just fine onto my hands (in fact i still think its too small for me.. lol )
as for the pixelation issue, try playing no$gba on 14"laptop + 640x800 res, for me the games really looks the same when i'm playing it like that configuration
