What happens if someone tries to run a DSi exclusive game on a regular DS? Does it display an error message, not do anything, or could it even damage the DS?

lmao.

Nintendo'll definitely be wanting to screw your console up if you bought the wrong game by mistake

same thing with gameboy color games in a gameboy.

Work, in monochrome? I had GBC camera, and it worked fine on a GB.

No, like with the DS, there were gameboy colour "enhanced games" and gameboy colour exclusive games.

A good example is pokemon silver/gold. These were gameboy colour enhanced, they would play in black and white on gameboy, but in colour on gbc.

pokemon crystal, however was a gameboy colour exclusive. If you put it into a gameboy or gameboy pocket, it would show a message that it is only playable on a gameboy color system.
