I've had enough of these DS gimmicks, personally. I REALLY hope it's a new GameBoy.

Nintendo's answer to the PSP would pwn all ass.

Yeah, they are hungry for money and dont care about our money limit budgets. They are selfish for DSi XL and now DS2 is already in development ? CRUEL!

I'm pretty nervous that Nintendo will become the Apple of gaming.

If and when DS2 comes out, they should consider changing the media from Cart to mini-dvd's.

lol, crazy if that happens

In the middle of an intense game, it would also function as a back massager.

You probably own a DS correct? Wouldn't you prefer that Nintendo continue to support the DS for years to come so you're not forced to buy the more expensive DS2 console and games? If DS2 is announced at E3 that will give it a release date of approximately 1 year from the launch of DSi XL. Most people won't be able to buy one upon launch and there will be a transition period of about one more year. Furthermore There will be games that release versions on both DS and DS2 in the future and the DSi accelerated hardware features will make this a much more enjoyable experience for DSi users, the DSi XL is simply a final improvement before they move on to DS2.

Also, what they are doing with DSi is almost the exact oppisite of not caring about users monetery concerns, the DSi will be a bargain alternative to the DS2. You have to see it from their point of view, they believe that everyone should pay for software but are trying to make it more affordable to everyone. More than likely you don't pay for many games so your concern lyes strictly with hardware, which Nintendo will probably sell at a loss in order to profit from software sales.

I've owned a DS ever since Mario Kart DS appeared and I have been sorta bored of it for over a year now. I think Nintendo have pretty much run the touchscreen thing into the ground, they seem bored with the system itself too so something new would be welcome.

The only people who don't want a new handheld are those who can't afford one but we've had the DS for six years now and it was hardly cutting edge when it was released. There is nothing else to do with it that hasn't already been done and its already been pushed to the limit. They could do better graphics wise but 3D games don't work too well on a DS due to the lack of a analog stick and the DS market is so saturated with crap that the best games cannot do as well unless they are massively hyped.

Also don't forget the piracy issue too. A new Nintendo handheld equals a less stale market. While Sony may be doing well with PSP hardware sales, its games don't sell well so they can't really invigorate the market plus.

This. Then they'd be able to sell both side-by-side and it would actually make sense.

This is exciting except for the "could" part. I don't know that I would believe it this yet. Now I'm not saying I wouldn't like to believe it. Honestly, I would be excited to see what nintendo has in store for its newest handheld. The only problem is, I'm already excited about the DSi XL (except for the ugly colors). I'm going to try to excercise some self control to wait and see what will be announced.

That is another reason to release DSi XL, DS2/GBA2(3?)/GB 4 will most likely NOT be backwards compatible with DS because more than likely it will be a single screen unit. Releasing this as I said before is just a final hardware improvement for the DS line.
