According to an old post by Aphex/Guru in the official forums, almost every Slot-1 cart has the same FPGA as DS-X, the only difference is that the FPGA on the DS-X is "user updateable", which means in theory, the DS-X allows users to write code for the FPGA, or something. Other than that, mentioning the FPGA all the time is just a very smart marketing ploy. Just look at all the people who praise "the FPGA", even though it's done jack shit for them. In retrospect, how "future proof" would you say the DS-X was? =]jesterscourt said:throwingks said:World Peace. But what COULD it do, theoretically? I mean, I remember during the purging period over at the DS-X forums when everyone was jumping ship and threads were going down the memory hole, that Team DS-X was like ITS FUTUREPROOF FPGA FPGA IS AWESOME and then no real explanation of how that was possible.

Maybe R4 actually works, so there's no need to tamper with the IO interface code... =]AeroHex said:p1ngpong said:Well if people want they might as well see what they can do with the hardware, better then just leaving it to gather dust or sticking it in the bin!
r4 has open io interface but nobody cares about it
i just don't see you obtaining source code
whats wrong with ds-x?pbolmstedt said:Maybe R4 actually works, so there's no need to tamper with the IO interface code... =]AeroHex said:p1ngpong said:Well if people want they might as well see what they can do with the hardware, better then just leaving it to gather dust or sticking it in the bin!
