Alright, I opened the ds lite to check out the problem. It currently displays a white opaque screen that is semi-fixed upon holding down the L button. Which is too much of a hassle for playing some games.

Here is the top screen

I find that when I wedge an object to squish the cable downwards, the screen functions normally.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix my problem?

I recommend using a piece of clear scotch tape to hold the ribbon down.

I have tried that but the opening and closing of the ds makes this more of a temporary solution. One slight jerk and the tape no longer works.

QUOTE(Ferrariman @ Nov 1 2008, 04:37 PM) Umm, I don't know much about this stuff, but try Checking/ Adjusting the ribbon cable?

I'm not sure how to adjust it since it's soldered?

Is your system still under warranty? If so I'd take it back to the store for a replacement.

The top screen becomes retarded on my friend's DS Lite too. Except.. its when he pushes the screen to the normal angle. He can only play it when it's slightly folded.

Ah it's long past warranty, which is why I opened it. Repairs for nentendo is estimated to be $80+ not including shipping. Online stores would be around $60.

I shall try placing some sort of glue clay used for holding poster boards and seeing if it works.
