Hacking ds light adjustment

I have had this a long time in my mind
I have a normal ds (grey) when i go to the ds menu and press the light adjustment button it goes off
if I use the R4 light adjustment it uses the DSlite brightness adjustment
and other people i know that own a r4 don't have this (same firmware)

btw my brother has this also although he owns a edge

i dont think there is anything wrong with your ds. the backlight switches off because your ds has a older firmware on it. as for why the r4 uses the dslite settings instead of your dsPhat settings, i have no idea. maybe the r4 has it programmed into the flashcarts firmware.

Only certain ds phats have brightness control, if you want to enable it in the ds menu you will have to flash your ds with flashme, it has nothing to do with the R4 firmware, you will all so be able to adjust the brighness setting using moonshell.
