Spending now money for a ds flashcart us like paying for playing those few months. If theres a pile o' games u HAVE to play now- I think 8$ arent such big money, and u wont do anything big with them anyways... so I think u should buy a flashcart. Also afaik the ds has more battery life then 3ds for ds games, and it will always need a flashcart to load them, so for those of u who have ds(i)(lite) go and buy a flashcart!
well tis not the problem people don't have money its the problem they have no credit card or their parents won't let them use theirs and some countrys don't sell visa gift cards i can't find them in the stores here

ds rom loadings possbile im just gonna wait for it to be finshed idk why its gonna take so long to make when sd access its working that was the main issue before is they could not get sd access in ntr mod now they can now they just need patching so games read from sd thats an other issue when you boot a game they try to boot from slot one that needs to be sorted out now

Because NTR with SD redirection is not the same thing as rom redirection, the same thing happens with ntr homebrews, if you try idk JenesisDS on hbmenu (with ntr mode), it will boot, but it will not find any rom/directory just because cannot find the slot-1 (idk if this happens on the original R4, but it does on my R4i SDHC). Of course we can wait for a rom loader, but you need to understand that is not that easy like SD redirection, in this case, hbmenu needs to patch the roms in order to read/write them from SD, and that is what @ahezard @Apache Thunder and @Shutterbug200 are trying to do, and as they said, it will take time...

If I compile the nesDS source to cia (since I have the elf), can I boot this cia in NTR mode?
You need to compile it as ntr - I think it called disable dsi mode or something similar.

Edit:
You just have to port it to latest devkitarm and recompile it. It will then work from SD in NTR mode. You have to disable DSi mode detection in libnds though else it will mistake the new unlocked NTR mode as DSi mode and things like touch screen controls will break among possible UI bugs.
P.S. I think this quote should be added to op in a subject "using ds homebrew with sd access".

Then go out and buy some overpriced r4 card locally! I have here some 20$ r4 that are 5$ online, but if I wouldnt already have a cart I would have bought one of them. Really, 20$ do worth all the gorgeous ds games... if they dont have local marts that sell r4, then... I feel sorry for you guys... but if money is the problem... I dont understand...

I've got two flashcarts which I move between my A9LH N3DS, DSi and DS Lite since I just can't help myself these days. I would be super happy if I could run the ROMs from my 3DS as well, even though the games do look better in their correct resolution on the DSi XL. I do get better battery life out of the DSes than the 3DS too. I think many DS flashcarts are good value for money and not a huge outlay, but not all users will have a disposable income or an easy way to purchase flashcarts, this is true.

Nope. You still need to get money to the account. Many can't do so. I myself own an unconfirmed PayPal account that only gets money from YouTube and little more. It's not easy if you have no way of converting real money to PayPal.

I didn't follow the 3ds scene for ~3 weeks, any news about rom loading from SD using the official dsi ware mode?
(Don't say 3DSmunme, not to be mean, but for now it's crappy until a really full speed/screen).

Not yet, but there has been headway in enabling SD access in NTR mode, so we're getting there. It'll probably be a few months still, but

You might already know this, and you're referring to them filling the screen on the DSi XL, but in case not: If you hold Start while a DS game is loading, you get the correct res, albeit with black borders.

Hopefully we can make use of that Fake GBA Slot lying around in the Memory Map (0x8000000).
That exists? Interesting! How does it act, and what's it's purpose, if any beyond filler? A homebrew that read out AGB_FIRM save data to NTR mode would be great for things like Pokémon.

Well how did game cube isos load on the wii

I don't think that needs to be done any more that's what people said before sd acess in ntr was a thing data can already be pulled from sd
