Right, but you're constantly putting different things in and out of RAM, right? We don't just load _everything_ into RAM on startup; that option was already exhausted and failed as we realized there wasn't a lot of RAM to work with.

Otherwise, you would only need the cart in the DS for the first minute and then you could take it out and things would still work. (Doesn't work)
but it will depend what game your playing pokemon may not lag but fast pace games may

NetHack DS seems to work very well (it's loading things just fine, and is able to save). Very cool, I played tons and tons of this on my DS.

Dual Hexen also seems to work, though it takes a long time to load anything. Runs OK once it's loaded though. Well, OK for Hexen on the DS. lol It's fun, but it never did run amazingly.

DS Knytt seems to lock up when it tries to load the game. It boots up but gets no further than that. There's a 'compatibility' version...and it gets to the title screen then the screen goes blank. :P I forget what the difference is, so it's not very helpful.

EveryExtenDS works very well, it saves high scores just fine. Really great game, btw, I also used to play this one quite a bit.

I also tried VNDSx, that visual novel reader for DS. It doesn't seem to work right (unless I just messed up when converting the novel).

I also found (and tested) on the Wiki 'Pianout'. Happy to report it works, because if we can't have "A virtual piano with the tone of air base fart" then what is the point of this DS loader, really?

Do you have the same behaivor with vnds I noticed https://github.com/ahezard/nds-bootstrap/issues/4 . Also, with what novel did you try? Because it seems Higurashi is somewhat capable of loading its home menu, while others like Umineko() or Ever 17 (specifical giving

error, loading the name and the author of the novel but nothing more) already crash there, whcih ometimes seem to be followed by a Guru Meditation Error! data abort. So it seems the current dldi sometime crashes it, and does not always just freeze it. @ahezard
Edit: Also, the source code is located on this webpage for the version im using: http://www.weeaboo.nl/download/ Mightt help finding out whats wrong
Edit2: Just remembered that VNDS has a nice debug mode showing what currently is loaded. Maybe I can find out what causes this error
Edi3: Nope, didnt give usefull information.

I tried Fate/Stay Night.

It saw the VN, then I tried to load it and it said it couldn't load script/main.scr, but I think I did something wrong in converting it since it does the same thing on my DSTwo flashcart (thought to try it a few minutes ago). Might have to try it again later, not right now though. Could be I used the wrong version of the game.

This is getting me excited!

In all honesty I think I've gotten all I can get of this project.
Retail DS rom support from the SD card is likely going to have more issues than just sticking to my decaying old AK2i.
These hacking efforts have opened up the possibility of overclocking DS software, which is enough to please me.
Unless by some miracle one of the old flashcards cluttering my drawer can be made to play TWL software, or I can overclock AGB software, I think there's little more I can take away from this all.

Speak for yourself, I can't way to this to be good enought to run DS games from the SD card.

Yep, to be honest this got ever further than I expected. Getting a functional DLDI was a surprise, even if it doesn't work perfectly.

I never said that nobody else should be excited, only that I'm not.
Regardless of how well DS games run, I'll be impressed if it happens.
And if they run to the same standard of playablity, I'll be amazed.
But given that just about any $5 flashcard you can find nowadays is working in the 3DS (thanks to the efforts of our lovely DSi mode hackers) I don't feel particularly excited.

They should run at full speed, but with some graphical/sound issues, unspected crashes and with a minimal compatibility list (just like with old homebrews with current bootstrap) , so people shouldn't dream to play PKMN B/W with bootstrap, at least on first release with retail rom support.
