No, but we have comparison photos

http://gonintendo.com/viewstory.php?id=160494

You can not use those photos to analyse the 3DS up scaling quality for very good reasons -

1. They were taken with a camera, to analyse the graphics you would have to fine a way to 100% accurately dump the display directly to a raw image file, currently impossible with the 3DS.

2. They are photos of two different systems, even if they were the same system, it's obvious that both the camera and 3DS are in different positions, which would effect the lighting of the photo.

3. They are photos of an LCD screen, so even the slightest different in the angle between the screen and the camera would be a large difference in the brightness of the image. You can check this yourself by looking at your system and moving it a little. Especially if you are looking through a lens of some sort.

4. They are not both lined up perfectly, like I said any difference in angle would result in totally different images being produced.

5. It is a well documented fact that you can persuade people of stupid things like this even when they are completely false. You can test this fact yourself by asking something like "ew, what's that smell?" while with a group of friends and some of them will imagine that they smell a foul odour.

No, it's a rumor that games look a bit better than with the pre-installed firmware. And still, DS games look terrible on a 3DS. Better play DS games with a DS lite or DSi.

DS games have been confirmed to look better, anyone who played the original GBA emu knows about the 2 dozen filter settings.

No, it has not been confirmed. In fact, I asked Nintendo via email if DS games look better with the new firmware and they said they didn't do anything related to polishing the looks of DS games, at least, thats what an employee said. And I can confirm that none of my DS games look better.

You should stay on the up and up before posting about that stuff that was covered here on GBAtempt

It seems you have a misunderstanding about the word "confirmed". It's anything but not confirmed when people say they see differences and other people say they see no differences. I trust facts.

Fact 1: I cannot see a slightest difference with any of my 20+ DS games.

Fact 2: An employee from Nintendo told me, that nothing has been done related to optimizing the visuals of DS games.

Fact 3: There are no proper comparison pics around.

'nuff said.

Those facts actually lead you to believe that they can't b confirmed rather then actually confirming anything.

Oh really? Provide me with proper comparison pics from a hardware video grabber, then we can talk.

Can't confirm but also demonstrates that he had made some research backing up his hypothesis.

That has nothing to do with what I said. I never said anything about me being able to confirm, I just said that your "facts" don't confirm anything.

you know there's no point arguing with you. You are one of those persons that always look to have an argument with everyone else and never give the reason to anyone, this is the same wherever I see your posts.

Fascinating discussion guys but I still did not get my question really answered ha. The fact people are arguing what looks better with a firmware update tells me DS games look really bad on a 3ds...

No, they DON'T. Before 2.0, the games looked a tad faded, but are fine. with the update they look JUST THE SAME as they do on the DSi.

The best quality is to play ds games is in a DSIXL. Ds games on 3ds are an OK but you have the benefit of playing ds and 3ds games on a single console + the analog stick you want to test.

Hope this answer your question.

So would u say 3ds is an upgraded DS experience with the analogue stick and better sound? Do u think its worth 250? Like who is happy with their 3ds's out there?

Not really bad, but by default they do look worse. On the DSi, the games are displayed at 1:1 pixel ratio, on the 3DS they are 1.25:1, so the images are stretched and slightly blurred. You can get around this by holding Start or Select while the game loads, which will set the screen to 1:1, however this leaves a black border around the screen. However, there is no menu option to set the default size, so if you prefer the borders, then you have to hold Start/Select every time you load a game.

[edit]
The 3DS is a great device for playing the newer 3DS games (which look great btw). The gameboy downloads from the eshop are good too. Some DS games that are difficult to control with the d-pad (such as Mario64DS) are easier to control with the O-pad.
If you're only going to play DS games on it though, I wouldn't bother.

DS games look fine on 3DS. I can't speak as to whether there was an improvement with the recent firmware update, cuz I bought my 3DS after the update so that was just about the first thing I did with it out of the box. But, I haven't seen anything in any DS game I've played on my 3DS that has made me think, even for a second, "hey that doesn't look right."

Now, that said, I do still lust after the DSiXL, not because of any problem with the 3DS display, but simply because I LOVE the XL's big screen. The pixellation (?) in DS games is quite obvious and precisely defined on the XL, and to some of us who have a soft spot for 'old-school' graphics, that's a beautiful thing.

I wish Nintendo would just give us some customization options...

^What Spiny said. Even though I've seen the shots, they mean nothing. I cannot see any difference. In fact, there is no difference. If Nintendo say they haven't done anything, they have not done anything. Simple.

I don't mind the black borders... I wouldn't get it to only play DS but mainly DS games..Other then SF4 and Ocarina what else is there? I feel like once I play those games to death I would have to wait like 2 years before any good 3ds games come out.
