DS Fat into DSi Lite replacement shells, is it even possible?

I can't find any Ds Fat shell replacement on ebay or anywhere else...
Only Ds Lite and up shells are plenty...
From this the ominous idea to try to squeeze my original DS Fat into a Lite shell...
Only the Hinge broke down... battery was replaced years ago but still holds it...
And DosBox86 emulation runs great on the mighty 4Gb Ds-Xtreme with dancing Leds...

As with the other thread there is quite the size difference, placement of buttons and more besides. Sorting that is going to be a nightmare. As far as DS hinges go then might be easier to take it off, take the guts out, make a mould to pour in some epoxy or similar, drill it back out and file in whatever slots are necessary.

I just remembered this and still find it really funny. They couldn't be arsed to actually come up with a decent replacement shell, and preferred to come up with this monstrosity?

Looks like, for now, there isn't much hope...
