I have installed Luma3DS on every 3DS I've ever owned, and this problem seems to either just be my ds or a problem with more recent firmware. (Probably firmware, as it happens on my other ds that hasn't bricked itself as well) so basically the problem is as follows:
I run a DS game with multiplayer via TWLoader (not a fan of DSiMenu++) for example Mario Party DS
I open the game to multiplayer
on my other CFWed 3DS, I open download play and select DS (3ds download play works)
It loads right up, and I can select the game and connect
[Here's where the issue is] when I start the game, it loads for a bit as you would expect, downloads the game seemingly fine and then out of nowhere the host says there was a connection error and then tries to take me back to the main menu. It hangs, and the other device hangs on the [Nintendo] screen.
I can connect copy-to-copy just fine, but MPDS for example does not allow this.

That's because the signature check failed in the 3DS that was performing the download. If the downloaded game signature is invalid, the DS/3DS will freeze as soon as the Nintendo logo starts fading out. Most likely happens because TWLoader doesn't have download play support.

Ok thanks. Do you know of any loaders that do?
