Ok, so at the moment my DS doesn't work since I don't have a battery, as it has blown up due to unknown reasons. I'm convinced that my DS is forever gone because the liquid that's inside the battery has pretty much filled up the entire DS, but I'd like some comments on whether or not Li-Ions can short circuit or make chips go bust? I'm pretty shattered at the fact that I hadn't touched it in a week or so and now it's not working anymore. I just want to know whether or not it can be fixed, or at least parts can be salvaged. I also had an EDGE card in there and the chip that meets the DS pins inside slot-2 is all corroded. Can that be saved too?

I might open it up and take photos for you all to see, but I am le sleeping so it can wait until later

So you don't know if the liquid filled it up? Is your DS still under warranty? If so take it to Nintendo, because an exploding battery, is pretty fucking dangerous if you ask me.

If it isn't under warranty, email them about it, see how much it will cost to repair. Or you could just lie to them and say "8 days after the warranty expired, the battery explodes?! Sounds to me like you guys are meaning to do this crap."

If it's too expensive to send it in, open that sucker up, see what the damage is like. If it looks good, just get a replacement battery and boot'er up. If it doesn't work. Well at least you only wasted a few bucks right?

I managed to open it up and the metal points that are supposed to touch the battery are corroded... meaning it doesn't work anymore. If it wasn't for that I would've had no problems fixing it. Luckily a friend of mine gave me a broken DS of his and I simply used my broken one to patch up the new one. I now have a refurbished DS with a slightly grainy screen... but hey it's better than nothing

Hey. It will work again. You just need to clean it with alcohol. I bet it looks like it has been washed with soap. Submerge the motherboard in alcohol. Let it soak for a day and the battery remains will dissolve.

Hm...
I'll take some photos and upload so you can judge its fate based on the damage
