Why do 4th Graders need to learn what E=mc2 means anyways?

And before people try to trash me on saying that I don't know what it means

E=mc2 means that the amount of energy converted from something is equal to the mass of the thing being converted into energy times the speed of light squared.
E is energy, m is mass and c is the speed of light.
So basically, the equation is saying Energy equals mass times the speed of light squared
